"In the late 1860’s, eight dedicated Presbyterians, including early Welsh settlers, met in the Van Wert Methodist Church and formed the congregation from which the Rockmart Presbyterian Church grew. The church held its organizational meeting on May 28, 1871, and is the oldest continuing Presbyterian Church in Polk County. A few years later, in 1878, land was obtained from philanthropist Seaborn Jones for a token payment of five dollars. During the next four years, the current building at the corner of Slate and Marble Streets was constructed of native slate with walls 28 inches thick. While the slate exterior remains almost exactly the same, the interior has been remodeled."

Our Story

On February 6, 2020, Southern Shots Gallery and SSG Bridal Boutique opened its doors at 12 S. Wall Street in beautiful, historic Downtown Cartersville, Georgia. When you step inside Southern Shots Gallery, you will find a warm southern greeting and a comfortable, inviting setting, where you can take your time viewing a large collection of photography by local photographer Teresa Adams. Images are available in many different formats—from canvas to prints to note/greeting cards. Her passion and love for photography is easily seen in her work, and her love of North Georgia is apparent in the local images she has captured. Her photos have been featured in several local magazines; the Downtown Gallery; as marketing materials for local organizations; and on websites of local companies and institutions, such as churches and city and county offices. She offers photography services including individual/family/group photos, website photos, events and occasions, corporate gatherings, church directories, bridal and baby showers, birthdays, prom photos, business headshots, and more. “The Heavens declare the Glory of God...”

The SSG Bridal Boutique section of the shop has been specifically designed by a strong desire to make brides feel welcome, relaxed and comfortable as they view and try on the lovely, elegant gowns and accessories that have been carefully chosen. The large, private dressing room and viewing area are very cozy and beautifully decorated—with large mirrors and plenty of seating for the bride’s guests. Brides are given personal attention and private appointments to help them find the dress they will fall in love with. “We are all about the Bride.”
