Is it a pep rally, is it a wedding? Or is it a pep rally for a wedding? That is the question, as we say Congratulations to the happy couple, Scott & Laura Wagner, who exchanged vows and said "I do", on 7/29/17, and kicked off the "the game of their new life together" (see what I did there - Lol) at the "Inn at Michigan League" hall, on the campus of U of M! Outside of "chants" for our lovely Bride/Groom, you could hear chants of "Go Blue" not far behind throughout the night!!! As you entered the building on this beautiful day, you could feel the energy for this party ramping up, as the anticipation for our guests of honor was drawing near! Your first stop before entering the ballroom, was to leave your "imprint", or should I say "thumb/leaf print" on Scott & Laura's "Wedding Tree" picture, that would remind them for many years to come, of all their guests who celebrated with them on this special day! As you entered the ballroom, as I said, electricity was in the air, no doubt! The ballroom was full of excitement, as the smiles were abounding! Once our Bride/Groom were done with taking family pictures in the courtyard, the wait was over! It was time for the Grand Entrance! And what an entrance it was! The Bridal party was in pure party form, as they showed off their best dance moves, and made their way in via "The Final Countdown", by Europe, followed by our guests of honor, who graced the hall coming into, "Crazy in Love", by Beyoncé, as they walked by their guests towards the cake table, feeling the love as the hall erupted with applause! Scott & Laura then settled in at the head table alongside their Bridal party, and after I welcomed everyone into the hall, the great toasts commenced! First by Scott's dad, Mark, who put everyone at ease, and had everyone laughing, as he told stories of Scott growing up, always the shy kid in school, who according to Mark & Kim, were worried that Scott wouldn't ever date, or "get the girl"! Lol. And of course, Scott showed mom and dad who prevailed in the end, with the woman of his dreams! Of course, three more great toasts were made by Sarah (Matron of Honor), Alex (Best Man), and to round it off, Laura's dad, followed by a great dinner! After Scott & Laura made their rounds talking to all of their guests, they then opened up the dance floor with their Bride/Groom dance with a classic, "Can't Help Falling in Love", by Elvis, and the dancing began! Shortly thereafter, Laura and her dad, Bill, shared a great dance, "My Girl", by the Temptations, followed by Scott and his mom Kim, who danced to another great heartfelt song, appropriately titled, "A Mother's Prayer", by Bonnie Barbey! From there, Scott tapped into his "inner fun" self, and took the garter off to "Pony", by Ginuine, and Laura tossed her bouquet to all the single ladies, followed by Scott tossing the garter to all the rowdy single men! Lol. The dancing was crazy good all night long, and the fun never stopped until the lights came up! Congratulations again Scott & Laura, and Thank You for letting us be a part of your special day, and choosing us to entertain for your family and friends! We had a blast!!! All the best! Go Blue! Enjoy the pics!

What a great day in Plymouth, as we say congratulations to the happy couple, Chelsea & Eric Schuster, as they started their new life together, with the Ceremony/party at PLymouth Manor, on 7/21/17! As their guests entered into the smaller ballroom, they were greeted by some beautiful pre Ceremony guitar music. The parents/grandparents were then seated as "Can't help falling in love", by Vitamin String Quartet was played, and Eric, his groomsmen, and their Pastor (Eric's father) Keith, made their way to the front, as they took their place awaiting the bridesmaids, who entered the room to another instrumental piece by Vitamin String Quartet, and then our lovely Bride Chelsea entered the room to Jonathan Cain's beautiful version of "the Bridal March"! A beautiful Ceremony followed, Chelsea & Eric turned around as the new Mr. & Mrs. were announced, and walked back past their family and friends to "You make my dreams", by Hall & Oates, displaying their huge smiles, as couples in love do! To get the party started, Chelsea & Eric's bridal party couples entered the hall to individual songs they had chosen, which pumped up the crowd leading up to the announcement of our guests of honor! As Chelsea & Eric joined their bridal party at the head table, they were greeted with great toasts from the Matron of honor, Melissa, and Eric was "lovingly roasted" by his older brother Daniel, and best man Dave! Lol. A great dinner followed, and our lovely Bride and groom then opened up the dance floor with their Bride/Groom dance, "Beauty and the Beast", by Celine Dion! After the dance floor was officially opened, Chelsea & Eric's guests joined them for fun and dancing that went all night long! Congratulations once again Chelsea & Eric! It was our honor and pleasure to entertain for your family and friends! Thank you for letting us be a part of your big day! All the best!

Interested in a destination wedding...right down the street? How about the backyard? That's right, the back yard! Talk about convenience, without the travel fee! Lol. You gotta love it! It might not have been St. Thomas, but on this day, it was the next best thing! Amidst the beautiful backdrop of the lake, and the perfect Michigan summer temps, I want to say Congratulations to my good friends, Elaine & Greg Rippey, who said "I Do", and who I had the honor and pleasure of entertaining for, along with their family and friends, at what felt like a "Destination" wedding for sure! As all the family got ready in their matching nautical attire (you'll love the kids pic for sure!), their guests arrived and took their seats, listening to some of Elaine's favorite music setting the mood for this festive Ceremony about to take place! Their officiant/neighbor Bruce Paulus started the proceeding as he made his way out to the end of the dock next to the palm tree backdrop, as Greg then followed him, awaiting his bride! The Bridal party followed after the parents were seated to "I'm a believer", by Smash Mouth, and then Elaine made her way down the aisle to "I will always love you", by Whitney Houston, a perfect song for this Bride to her man! As the vows were spoken to each other, the ring bearer then in all his "cuteness", walked the rings down the dock to the officiant! After the "I Do's", Greg and Elaine sealed the deal with a kiss, over the water! Greg actually wanted them to "jump in the water" together to seal the deal, but Elaine chose NOT to go through the whole getting ready process twice in a day! Lol. The Ceremony was then topped off with a great recessional song, "You are the sunshine of my life", by Stevie Wonder, as our lovely Bride/Groom made their way back to the house for family pics, etc., and the party started! Great beach music set the mood for this Cocktail hour by the water, and when it came to the Grand Entrance, "Celebration", by Kool and the gang, it was the whole family, yours/mine/ours, that smiled as they made their way into the tent, followed by the guests of honor, Greg & Elaine, who entered the party with "You look good", by Lady Antebellum! I then welcomed everyone to Elaine & Greg's "Waterfront Resort" (Lol), and two great toasts followed, one by Greg's long time friend, Kim Poulson (The best woman, or as they called her, "The Bestie"!), and Elaine's son, Robert! A great dinner followed, and a huge cooler of ice cream selections topped off dinner, for those with that "sweet tooth"! When it came to kick off the dancing, Greg & Elaine took "center stage" and opened up the dance floor with "Crazy Love", by Van Morrison, followed by a great "family" moment/dance, with Elaine and her kids dancing to "Like my mother does", by Laura Alaina, and ending with a great sentimental song, "A song for my son", by Mikki Viereck, for Greg and his mom! After that, it was full blown party mode, and dancing with the stars, or should I say...dancing under the stars! Lol. A great time was had by all! Since this is the 3rd wedding I've done for this family, I almost feel like part of the family! Lol! And trust me, it has always been a blast with this family! We do have some "rainy" stories that we could tell you (inside joke!), but as I said, we've enjoyed great times again & again!!! Congratulations again Greg & Elaine! It was my honor and pleasure working with you, and entertaining your guests! All the best! Enjoy the pics!

And the wedding season rolls on with more great couples saying "I Do"! Congratulations to Jacquelyn & Matthew Pearson, who started their new life together on 7/14/17, and held the party with their family and friends at the Kensington Hotel, in Ann Arbor! It was a beautiful day for our lovely Bride & Groom, as they were anxious to make their Grand Entrance into the hall, to see all those familiar smiling faces! As the bridal party made their way into the hall to the uptempo beat of "Let's Go", by Calvin Harris, Jackie & Matt completed their Grand entrance to the heartfelt "Marry You", by Bruno Mars! Perfect! Their guests did not disappoint either, as they not only welcomed them in with smiles, but a huge roar of applause! Matt & Jackie joined their bridal party at the head table after the cutting of the cake, to enjoy two great toasts from Jackie's sister Michelle, and Matt's best man, Wes! A great dinner followed! After Jackie & Matt made their rounds visiting with their guests, it was time to get the party started! Our lovely Bride & Groom opened up the dance floor with a classic for their Bride/Groom dance, "Amazed", by Lonestar, and then to show their love and support, their guests joined them in our "Good luck" dance, to bring them many years of wedded bliss! Follow that up with the sentimental, "I Loved Her First", by Heartland, for Jackie's Father/Bride dance, and Matt followed with a special dance with his mom for his Mother/Son dance, "Then They Do", by Trace Adkins! Then Matt as cool, calm, reserved as he is, broke out to let us know he was there to have a great time, smiling, as he started his quest to remove the garter to the tune of "Mission Impossible", with a little encouragement from their guests! And not only did their family and friends join in singing with me to our lovely Bride and groom, but joined them on the dance floor all night as well! Congratulations once again Jackie & Mike! Thank you for letting us be a part of your big day! We loved entertaining for your guests! All the best!

Congratulations to a great couple, Nancy & Michael Houze, who made it official out in Dexter, MI, on 7/15/17, at Nixon farms, the setting for another great, unique summertime wedding! You could tell that by the whole unique, relaxed, outdoor atmosphere, that our lovely bride and groom put a great deal of thought and time into how they wanted their style to reflect on their big day with their family and friends, and to just set the mood of a fun, great, carefree wedding! When you made your way into the barn, the decor grabbed your attention immediately, and invited you in for more! And they did not disappoint! The great decor/pics of this happy couple's life up to this point was on display (pics of family, Nancy & Mike, Mike's love for Halloween costumes - Lol), letting you know that this was a love meant to last! There was just so many items to look at, it only wanted you wanting more! But then as the Ceremony drew near, the barn doors were being closed, and their guests were directed outside by the music, letting you know that the time was almost upon us, for our guests of honor to make it official! And special it was! Mike escorted his mom to be seated, then took his place next to their friend/officiant Ben, and the bridal party followed, making their way across the grass, walking up to the front, only to be followed by the ring bearer Braydon, who thought he was there to "steal the show", smiling at every person he walked by, who to their guests, was just the cutest! Added to the cuteness and the bridal party processional were Mike & Nancy's Pug's, and then of course, Mike's big moment, as he caught his first glimpse of his lovely Bride Nancy being escorted up the isle! What a moment! Following the Ceremony, their guests made their way all around the barn, checking out the grounds, the barn/decor, enjoying outside games and each other's company, along with a few cocktails, before everyone was escorted in the barn to enjoy Mike & Nancy's big Grand entrance, "Howling for You", by the Black Keys! Once everyone was seated, I welcomed everyone into the venue, and our Maid of Honor Shaina, and Best Man Mike did the honors of giving great toasts! A great barbecue style dinner followed, and cupcakes were served for those with that "sweet tooth", looking for the perfect ending to a perfect dinner! When it came to opening up the dance floor, Mike & Nancy chose "Swept Away (Sentimental version)", by Avett Brothers as their Bride/Groom dance, followed by the Father/Bride dance, "Highway 20 Ride", by Zac Brown Band, and ending our specialty dances with the Mother/Son dance, "Simple Man", by Lynyrd Skynyrd, as the smiling faces on their family/friends were abundant looking on! After that, a party broke out on the dance floor, as the barn rafters were rocking all night! Lol. Congratulations again Mike & Nancy, may you enjoy many years of wedded bliss! We had a blast! It was our honor and pleasure! All the best, as it was great working with you! We hope you enjoy the pics!

Congratulations to Superman & Lois Lane! Or should I say, congrats to Keith & Samantha Hamlin, who tied the knot, and celebrated with family and friends, at St. George Orthodox Hall, in Monroe! It was a beautiful breezy day, and when our bridal party showed up along with our guests of honor, and entered the hall in exciting fashion, you would've thought it was something right out of a comic book, with Superman swooping down to bring his lovely Bride into the hall! The bridal party kicked off the Grand Entrance with excitement, with "Gangnam Style", by Psy, and as our Lovely Bride & Groom entered into the hall, Keith stopped, looked around as trouble might be present, and made a gesture to rip open his tux, and expose the "S" on his chest, and jump into action! Lol. If you couldn't tell, Keith is a Superman/DC fan! Lol. Since I'm a Marvel fan, we'll have to talk later Keith! 😉 But Keith & Samantha were there to no doubt, "save the day", and save/celebrate they did! Samantha & Keith cut the cake (wait til you check out the pics...you guessed it! A Superman & his bride cake topper! Perfect!), which Samantha tried to smash into Keith's beard, but with his super human speed, avoided the deadly cake smash from the speedy arm movement of his lovely Bride! Lol. From there, two great toasts, a delicious buffet dinner, great decorations to admire (I believe the groom's father made the cupcake display, which added a great touch for sure!), and the cupcakes weren't too bad either! Lol! Add a great crowd that was enthusiastic, and ready to party, and you had the makings of a great night! Samantha and Keith then kicked off the night with their Bride/Groom dance, to "Then", by Brad Paisley, followed by their Bridal Party dance, "Lost in this Moment", by Big & Rich, the Father/Bride dance, "Tough Little Boys", by Gary Allan (a personal inside sentiment from dad), and followed up with "A Mother's Song", by T Carter, which is always a fan favorite with Mothers & sons! Then it came to the fun stuff for Keith, as he disappeared for a moment while we brought out "the chair", and asked Samantha to have a seat, and then as if the Groomsmen were "guarding" the bride, the theme song from "Mission Impossible" started, and then Keith once again went into "super hero/mission" mode, as he snuck up behind the "guards", and took them out one by one, to get to, and/or "save" his lovely Bride from harm (and to get the garter! Lol)! After Samantha was saved (Lol), their guests joined in with me, to add that great audience participation, and sing to Samantha & Keith, and brought the "roof down"! The great dancing ensued, with some great polka's, 80's, and current hits, to keep the crowd motivated, and dancing all night long! The best ending to this story, is that Superman did win the girl, and swept her off her feet, to enjoy a lifetime of happiness! Congratulations again to both of you, Samantha & Keith, for letting us be a part of your big day! We had a blast! It was an honor and pleasure working with both of you! All the best! Enjoy the pics!

Here we go again! This summer's been shining down on some great couples, when it comes to beautiful Ceremonies by the water as a backdrop, beautiful sunsets for pics, and all around just great days! And for this happy couple, we say Congratulations to Brittney & Derek Schell, who had one of those days! Although it was close for a moment, as we thought Mother Nature was going to "rain on their parade" (no pun intended!), and force them inside for their Ceremony, but the clouds came in, left a few raindrops, and moved their way out, and made way for this beautiful Ceremony filled with Brittney's favorite string song selections by the water, at the beautiful resort of Waldenwoods, in Howell! When the Ceremony finished, great pics were taken with Brittney & Dereks family, and I believe even a picture with their guests, in front of the big balcony facing the water, with Derek & Brittney up top, overlooking their guests! What a setting! Cocktail hour then commenced, and their guests settled in looking at all the great decor that our lovely bride & groom had made, to personalize their big day, waiting for the guests of honor to make their entrance into the hall! And what an entrance! The bridal party came into a pumping "Yeah (3X)", by Chris Brown, making way for the smiling "hand holding" Bride/Groom entering the room with an appropriately titled song, "Hold my Hand", by Jess Glyne! Let the happiness begin, as their guests cheered! Our lovely Bride & Groom cut their cake and made their way over to the "sweetheart" table", as I welcomed everyone officially into the hall, and the great toasts followed! Thanking everyone for coming and starting the toasts off was Brittney's father Michael, who gave a sentimental toast for his daughter & son in law, followed by Jamie our Maid of honor, and Ryan, Derek's brother, who showed us how close brother's can be, and commenting/acknowledging that Derek was a guy that knew something about everything (everyone smiled!), and then ending the toasts with a very unique story/toast of love/perseverance was David Schell, the groom's father! A great dinner followed, moving towards the dancing portion of the night! Brittney & Derek then opened the dance floor with their traditional Bride/Groom dance, "You are the Best Thing", by Ray LaMontagne, and their guests then joined them in our "Good Luck" dance, which for every couple we get to join with them in a dance, will bring them one more year of "wedded bliss", and the floor was packed! Great dancing followed all night long, and the fun never stopped! Congratulations again to an awesome couple, that we had the honor and pleasure to entertain for! Thank you Brittney & Derek for letting us be a part of your big night! We had a blast as always with your friends and family! All the best!

"Tips from the DJ"! When making an event successful, from this DJ's perspective, it's all about setting the mood, in different phases of the night! When it comes to Wedding Receptions, when the day kicks off with the Cocktail hour, because of people/guests that are attending, who haven't seen each other in years or just a short time ago, you're still trying to create that "Festive/light hearted/uptempo", not over the top, in your face kind of atmosphere, with background music, that we simply call "mingle music", where people can still talk without having to yell in their ear, and yet not playing such slow/mellow/subdued music, where they're falling asleep! Other things to consider unless you're doing a "theme" wedding, you have all ages of people from young to old attending, so you try to be attentive to those people as well, and since some older guests might not be with you the entire night, it's always good to include some other genres of music that they appreciate, to make them feel engaged as well, and to not get the impression, "if this is the only music that is to be played all night, that we need to leave after dinner!" Then after a great Grand Entrance to get the crowd pumped up for our Bride/Groom entering the ballroom, we keep it lighthearted/uptempo, until the introduction into the hall/Toasts/Word of Thanks/Blessing are made, and the mood/atmosphere changes again, for a nice dinner! We don't want to get the "chicken jumping off the plates" (Lol), and because it's all about "Love for our Bride/Groom", usually the music changes into a more romantic/slower/more subdued song selection, so your guests can still talk in a normal tone, and enjoy a great meal! After dinner, towards cake & coffee, the music becomes more uptempo, ramping up once again to "party mode"! From there the dancing begins, and the party starts! All these segments of your Reception, we feel help to make your day a success! Other factors that help make your event a success throughout the night include volume, the type of music that's played right after dinner (it should be a natural progression of volume/tempo, of course edited language, etc.), guest requests, and making all it all flow together seamlessly for your party, until the lights come up, and your guests are looking at their watch and saying, " you mean it's over already"? Lol. Hope this helps! Stay tuned for more "Tips from the DJ"! Much success to all our Brides/Grooms when planning for their big day!

07/28/2017

Another happy couple! I love working with great couples that appreciate the party, music, dancing, and being their "Wedding co ordinator", working with all their vendors, to make their day run smooth and flawless, so they can have the time of their lives with their family & friends on their big day! Thank you again Matt & Sarah! All the best!

07/25/2017

"Hot fun in the summertime", as the song goes! And fun it was! Congratulations to the happy, fun couple, Jessica & Nathan Kemp, who's hopefully enjoying some fun in the sun down in Myrtle Beach at this moment! The day didn't look so good starting out weather wise, but the good Lord took away the clouds/rain, for an absolutely awesome Ceremony, outside in the beautiful "Garden" area, at Tina's Country House in Macomb! Albeit warm, their guests endured the short Ceremony, watching Jessica walk down the isle with her dad to "Marry Me", by Train, as Nathan became overcome with emotion, from the moment she came into view, while fanning themselves with the Bride/Groom fans that were provided, and then made their way inside the hall, for the start of cocktail hour! A festive day it was, as all their guests were reacquainted with friends of old, and the celebration was on it's way! Our Lovely Bride & Groom entered the hall, with up lights displaying a color pallet of two colors, Aqua/Purple, to set off and compliment their centerpieces! Add to that, the perfect Grand Entrance song, "You Look Good", by Lady Antebellum, which said it all about our Bride/Groom, and their bridal party! They Looked good for sure! Great Toasts followed by the Maid of Honor and Best Man, and an awesome dinner followed as always from Tina's! Once the spotlight was on our bride and groom, Jessica & Nathan chose a great song for their bridal dance to kick the night off, "From the Ground Up", by Dan & Shay, and the party was on! Energetic and enthused is the best way I can describe their friends and dancing! And I'm talking about the "guys" first! Lol. I don't say that often, but these we're guys that were out to have a great night! Ties loosened, the top bottom undone, vests off (that's where we leave it - Lol!), and these guys were dancing machines! The ladies were inspired, and joined them all night long on the dance floor! Talk about fun! Follow that up with Nathan taking center stage and taking off Jessica's garter to "Pony" (Jessica's request!), by Ginuine, and both Jessica/Nathan tossed the bouquet/garter together! We then had their guests form a circle around Jessica & Nathan, and their guests joined with me in singing to our Lovely Bride & Groom, and flowing from there right into a surprise 23rd Happy B'day song, for one of their good friends, Mike Rocheleau, who was presented with a small cake to top it off! Talk about your icing on the cake! Lol. No pun intended! Throw in a special shout out/song to Micheal & Tammy Hill (Jessica's parents), for celebrating 25 yrs. of wedded bliss, adding in all the "happily married" couples who joined them on the dance floor, and a great night was had by all! Love to see the dancing! So Congratulations once again Jessica/Nathan, and Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day, and bringing the party your way! We hope you had a great time! We had a blast for sure! We wish you all the best in the future, as it was our honor and pleasure to be a part of your celebration, and to work with such a great couple! Enjoy the pics!

07/11/2017

Congratulations to Sarah & Jeff Taylor, who tied the knot and made it official on June 16, 2017! This great couple was definitely all smiles, along with their bridal party, as I greeted them outside Arnaldo's in Riverview, their choice of venue for their big day! And what a beautiful place it was! From the moment you walked into the hall, you were greeted with a large fun pic of Jeff & Sarah embracing showing their love, and after you "signed a heart", and dropped it into their picture frame, you entered the room with beautiful up lighting, adding that character/elegance, setting the mood that a great party was about to take place! As the bridal party got ramped up and got ready to come in, I must say, they were on top of their game! Co-operative, excited, happy! You knew with this bridal party leading the way for our lovely Bride & Groom, this Grand Entrance was about to be special! And special it was! Jeff & Sarah listened to some G. Entrance songs that I had sampled for prior Brides/Grooms, those who were Detroit sports fans, Kid Rock fans, etc., and Sarah gave the decision to Jeff, who had a vision for a combination of fun pumped up songs, that I was able to "crop" and put together for the bridal party, and Sarah & Jeff's big moment entering the hall! For the bridal party, it started with Bon Jovi's "Livin' On a Prayer", getting the crowd pumped, fading into the dramatic Red Wings foghorn/Don't Stop Believin'/& Welcome 2 the Party by Kid Rock, for Sarah & Jeff! Wow, talk about a Grand Entrance!!! Glad I could make that happen for Jeff & Sarah! Our lovely couple then cut their cake, and headed up to the head table to join their bridal party, as dinner was getting close to being served. I welcomed everyone into the hall, and then introduced those giving our great toasts! And they didn't disappoint either, and when it came to the best man/brothers of Jeff making their toast, it was a "tag team" effort that sounded like they'd been practicing all week, telling funny stories of their younger brother! A crowd favorite for sure! Arnaldo's served up a great dinner, and when we needed to open up the dance floor, Sarah & Jeff kicked it off with, "From the Ground Up", by Dan & Shay (Great song!), for their Bride/Groom dance! Their guests went into party/dance mode from that point on, and the fun "begun"! Lol. Mix that in with Sarah dancing with her father to, "I Loved Her First", by Heartland (always a great Father/Bride song - just a personal note!), and the classic "Song for Mama", by Boyz II Men, for Jeff and his mom immediately following! Jeff then went into fun mode while removing the garter to "Pour Some Sugar", by Def Leppard, as their guests encouraged him on! And since we offer some different fun options for tossing the bouquet/garter, we offered a shorter version of the anniversary dance, where the bride/groom would give the bouquet/garter to the longest married couple! Sarah believed her Grand Parents would be the longest married couple remaining on the dance floor, and when we offered that option to give them the bouquet/garter as the longest married couple, Sarah asked if we could do a favorite song of theirs, to really make it special! We were more than happy to oblige! Sometimes Brides/grooms will even give that couple a bottle of wine/champagne as well! Along with those great moments, add in a song that Sarah wanted to dance with her son to, "I Hope You Dance", by Leanne Womack, and had Jeff join in, which showed the love that this new family has for each other! Their fun crowd also joined in on getting on the dance floor and singing to Garth Brooks, "Friends in Low Places", as well as singing with me to Sarah & Jeff during their "Special Moments" dance! No stopping these energetic guests! Lol. The dancing continued til the end of the night, along with their guests ducking out for a few moments, to get their personal keepsake pic of Sarah & Jeff's big day from the photo booth! Thank you Sarah & Jeff for choosing us as your entertainment on your big day! We had a blast with your family, and friends! It was our honor and pleasure! It was great working with you! All the best! Congratulations again! Have a great day!
