Last August, I took my little grands to the Crook County Museum & Art Gallery in Sundance, Wyoming. I highly recommend it if you haven't been there, it's so well done. A display that caught my attention told the story of Robert Brislawn and his lifetime goal to save the Spanish Mustangs. He had caught the attention of beloved author Marguerite Henry who wrote the most heartwarming book about one of Brislawn's horses, San Domingo. And that is also the title of the book. Let me tell you that this book is not just for children. Most of us who've read any of Henry's books know that she captures the best and the worst of humanity is the most beautiful way, and we've loved her for that.

Anyway, I ordered a used copy and sat down to read it this week. The story's setting is Wyoming...and not just in general, but specifically the Platte River area from Fort Laramie to Platte River Station (ahem...Casper) to Devil's Gate...places that many of us who live here drive past to fish or climb, hike or ride and camp. It's about a boy who struggles in his relationship with his father and the journey his life takes when he joins the Pony Express. And of course it is about his very loved Spanish Mustang. But that is just the tip of the iceberg.

I cried when the book ended, I loved it so much. If you live in Wyoming, or just love Wyoming, it is a MUST. Read it. And then let me know what you thought!

This weekend is an exciting one!
Tomorrow I will be speaking briefly on Agritourism along with , .ranch and for the annual conference!

On Saturday we look forward to hosting a locally sourced brunch after a Greenhouse and Farm Tour. The brunch will be prepared by our good friend , with music by the lovely Sarah Carper, and will end with a session on Storytelling and Marketing.

The last of summer's flowers went to the wedding of a Wyoming girl with beautiful red hair and a tanned and freckled nose. She and her mom met with me and told me what the colors were going to be, but just let me do my thing and surprise them. I love doing that! Thank you! ♥️

To our incredible performers, thank you for sharing your talents and filling our garden with melodies that will linger in our hearts long after the final note. To everyone involved in putting on the concerts and providing food and drinks, your hard work and dedication behind the scenes made everything possible.

And just like that, Casper... we're down to our final concert of the year. 😢 Summer flew by and we're so excited to round out a beautiful series with you all to the lovely sounds of Kelly Hunt this Saturday.

The daughter of an opera singer and a saxophonist, Hunt was raised in Memphis, TN amidst a motley mélange of musical influences ranging from Rachmaninov to Joni Mitchell to Mississippi John Hurt. You won't want to miss her soothing sounds filling the Wyoming evening.
