Sure, a private backyard usually makes the “wish list” for my buyers, but experts are saying the pandemic has changed the game for some, and shown that the front yard deserves just as much attention!

When the pandemic limited our ability to see friends and family inside our homes, the front yard became the hub for fun, safe socializing. From drive-by celebrations to socially distanced cocktail parties on the porch, the front yard is stealing the show as the new entertaining space—and it’s a change that’s likely here to stay. We, personally, spend most summer evenings on our State Street-facing front porch vs. our back yard screened-in patio area!

Is your front yard overlooked? Well, party in the back no more! Here are a few pointers on how to make it over into a space you’ll want to spend hours in.

1- Create an inviting space by adding comfortable chairs, benches or a porch swing.

2– Add a small table to create a chat area.

3– An area rug to keep it cozy.

4– Consider installing an outdoor patio ceiling fan will keep it cool and bug-free.

5– Create a relaxing oasis by adding a water fountain.

6– Stay warm into the evening with a fire out or patio heater.

7– Try adding new sconces by the front door and lights along the pathway leading to your front door. Landscape lighting will highlight flowers in bloom.

8– Define the space with edging material, planters, or flowers.

*Bonus: the added curb appeal is also a huge plus for potential home buyers!

As you all know, I like to name my arrangements after local businesses, this one happens to be here in and one of my personal favorites who I have been lucky to work with on many occasions. If you haven’t been to their Salon, I recommend you give them a visit. This bouquet is extra special as it’s named after my baby girl, who spends a lot of time growing up in the Flowershop
