The mission of the UNI Interpreters Theatre program is to offer students opportunities to learn about performance through their participation in the creation, direction, performance, and production of scripts based on social and cultural issues, oral histories, ethnographies and traditional performances of literature. The Interpreters Theatre performance laboratory embraces inclusivity and equity in our productions, and roles are available for any person and ability!

OPENS TONIGHT!
The Interpreter's Theatre is launching the 2024-2025 season with a side-splitting performance, and we don’t want you to miss it!

Join us for Wouldn't it be Funny if…, a fast-paced and unpredictable improv comedy show directed by Jacob Varner and Magnus Camp.

Described as a “love letter to improv,” this performance promises spontaneous moments and uproarious laughter as our talented university cast takes on the unpredictable nature of live theater. Whether you’re an improv aficionado or seeing it for the first time, expect the kind of magic that only comes from being in the moment.

However, the director and writer, student Hannah Tibbs, has done a brilliant job creating a thought-provoking and empathy-producing performance. You don't want to miss this!

INTERPRETERS THEATRE AUDITION NOTICE!!

“ALERT: End the Mass Shooting Epidemic,” is written and directed by student Hannah Tibbs. This production seeks to address and provoke thoughtful discussion on the critical issue of mass shootings in our society.

Auditions will take place in the Interpreters Theatre, Room 040 in Lang Hall on March 5th from 4-6pm and March 7th from 8-10pm.

No previous audition or acting experience is necessary for this production! This is more than your usual interp show, as we hope to create something that could inspire change in our communities and the world. We encourage you to join us in doing so by auditioning!

The UNI Interpreters Theatre wants to welcome all faculty and students back to campus for the semester! We hope you are all finding ways to stay warm and travel safe during these cold and icy times.

We transition into a very intellectual and thought-provoking part of our season, which features a full-length play, a readers theatre, and showcases led by faculty members of the department.

Guess what?? We have our next set of auditions for our next show!

Dog Sees God, directed by student Isaiah Dale, will hold auditions in the Interpreters Theatre on Thursday and Friday of next week from 3:30-5:30pm!

Audition sides will be provided at auditions, so just bring yourself, a water bottle, and a willingness to have fun!

Let's meet more students involved with Storytellers Club!

Emma Dunsbergen is a third year student majoring in Communication! They will be directing the piece, "Thanks, Mrs. S" which details about an ELA student who gets the nickname of crybaby from a mean teacher.

Parker Miller is a third year student majoring in Communication! They are directing "Slandering the Hobbit in Righteous Pursuit of Feminine Empowerment" and is an actor in "Gingerbread House," which discusses welcoming home a sister from the psychiatric ward on Christmas Day.

Kellie Stiles is a third year student majoring in Communication! They will be directing the piece "Vultures with Camera" with tells the story of a student who goes to observe a sentencing of a man who was convicted of voluntary manslaughter.

Tatum Peterson is a senior who is majoring in English at UNI! They are the writer of the piece "Narcissister," which tells a story about a narcissistic half-sister.

Rachel Wagner is a senior at UNI, and they are majoring in English Education. They are a writer and actor of "We Hold the Silence," which delves into 'coming to terms with sexuality'.

Jared Gadson is also a senior at UNI, and they are majoring in Mass Communications. They will be directing "Luchar," which tackles 'offended uncle strangles nephew'.
