A full week since Kerr County went from only known by those who live here or had visited - to known across the nation for the saddest of reasons.

There are 6 towns in Kerr County - 4 of which are unincorporated (Hunt, Center Point, Camp Verde, and Mountain Home) meaning no municipal government or services (they are served by the County).

These four unincorporated towns have volunteer fire departments who serve them. Think about that - not paid, all volunteers and they jumped in immediately in the wee hours of July 4th to help where it hit first in Hunt and Ingram. Before being flooded themselves in the case of our town Center Point. And they keep working, serving as home base for CP searches in a flooded building.

Anyone who survived and lost everything says they were “lucky” because that’s the depth of what happened.

Driving along the river into Kerrville as part of our daily life this week - taking Theo to daycare or going to HEB, the first responders vehicles must outnumber regular ones 10 to 1.

Chainsaws thrown into pickup beds headed towards where it’s bad. Where they are still searching.

Everyone keeps saying it feels heavy and that’s the perfect way to describe it. And at the same time awe inspiring to watch the response.

To those who reached out to check on us those first few days and even now to make sure WE were okay, not the venue - even if couples had weddings coming up! Thank you

Since all these unincorporated towns will rely on the county for support - the Kerr Flood Relief Fund is a great way to spread the love. All the volunteers fire departments are on the list to receive funds.

If you want to lend your time - the website above has a volunteer signup sheet. www.kerrtogether.com

is also taking volunteers or donations directly. Searching for the family pets missing too 🫶🏻

As for EPW we have our eye on a fundraiser to rebuild the little park/playground that was wiped out, right on the river. It’s a small thing to rebuild in the grand scheme of things, but those small things are the whole point.

Share the links and keep sending the positive vibes 🫶🏻

When your wedfest is messy but in a good way 🤘

And the photog asked if I want to get in with them! 🥺

Taylor and Ryan did it their way! Theo still plays with the Lego people they gave us from their wedding favor leftovers 😝

Three years after the first preggo home shoot (which you can find earlier in our feed) came back to our disaster zone house to freeze in time what it was like with a toddler and three elderly pups as we waited for the second tornado to hit 👶 🌪️

I’m soooo glad old man Dexter made it to this photo shoot day before he decided he was done. Handsome till the end!

We all are a liiiitle more tired and worn thanks to how quickly things can change in a few years. Learning you can be wildly happyy in some ways and also not at the same time and that’s not really a unique experience. comes for everyone eventually

Like how we are missing my dad and all the “I’ll take care of it energy” he brought to EPW, but glad to have the friends and fam we do have who help us keep keepin on and staying sane more or less 😅

We’ll figure out the flooded ceremony area and fallen lights/limbs before the fall season some how lmao

And all our wonderlusty couples who manage to find us out here in the Hill Country and decide to trust that out in a wooded meadow, we are the ones who can bring their laid back whimsical wedding vision to life 💕

After every booking I think surely this is the last one and we will be found out as frauds, but then we meet a new couple and we get to keep going. I think this thought is also common with small business owners LOL

As unique as everyone is I think we are all still kind of the same - wanting to live our lives safely, love who we love, and get a little help when we need and want it having some fun along the way👋🏼

So we’ll be here…with a lot of help from family and friends - doing what we can to make core memories for ourselves, our feral tots and anyone else that wants to get hitched out here 🫶🏻

Our own wedfest

Being outdoorsy folk the first thing we decided was the theme - a whimsy-filled festival with giant-hat Tipis!! We quickly realized there weren’t any venues out there offering the festival we were envisioning, so we set to work putting our own together from scratch. After 10 months of getting our 20 acre slice of Hill Country heaven ready for “Haws Wedfest” - and tons of encouragement from family and friends who attended - we decided to bring the festival vibes to other couples...at Elm Pass Woods!
