This wedding at was a masterclass in balance. Elegance without effort, celebration without pretense. One moment, a still by the staircase, the next, champagne popping and feet barely touching the floor. A day that felt intimate, refined and just full of life!

Over the years, documenting weddings has become an adventure in storytelling—capturing moments that still feel alive every time you look back. It’s all about intention, and mine will always be to take the most beautiful photos in the most authentic and effortless way!

Engagement Shoot at DC’s National Portrait Gallery | Washington, DC Wedding Photographer

E + M’s engagement session at the National Portrait Gallery was an absolute blast 🥹 They’re the perfect mix of classy and fun, and that energy made this shoot effortless. This couple was willing to appease my artistic appetite and so i was able to shoot in a plethora of styles —from traditional, to a touch of editorial, romance, and finally a playful, laid-back finish. Lots of direction, lots of laughter and of course, so many frame worthy images to share for a lifetime!

And as you can tell by their apparel, this was a unique session in that they chose to take all their wedding portraits ahead of time. I always love when couples make choices that truly reflect what they want for their wedding experience, and E + M did just that—celebrating their way while still prioritizing these once-in-a-lifetime photos.

A little throwback to an April wedding at Raspberry Plain Manor —a quiet nod to the details that often slip by unnoticed, but express the heart of a wedding day.

There’s a quiet beauty in the art of noticing—of standing still long enough to see not just what’s in front of you, but how it all connects. I’ve learned that finding the right position isn’t just about angles or lighting; it’s about perspective. It’s how the shadows stretch just enough to give depth to a simple detail. It’s in observing how delicate moments like a hand reaching for perfume, can feel as soft and intentional as the gesture itself. How the architecture holds space, how the design elements aren’t isolated moments but part of a larger narrative, woven together with intention.

Over the years, this practice has shaped more than just my work—it’s shaped how I move through life. I’ve grown to appreciate the small things, the unnoticed details that carry weight in their quietness. The way light filters through a window in the late afternoon, the texture of worn pages in a book, the softness in an unspoken gesture. Photography has taught me to look closer, but life taught me to feel deeper. And in both, I’ve found that the smallest pieces often tell the fullest stories.

7 years of lovepersecond guys. So much growth throughout but will share more of those thoughts on another post 😎 for now - enjoy some of my favorite moments from this day!

Swipe ➡️ for the surprise at the end 🫶 Like a scene from a film—soft smiles, effortless glances, undeniable chemistry and a cotton candy sky wrapping everything in the perfect blend of light and shadows. I love capturing moments where the surrounding light and sky do most of the work - It’s crazy magical.

But there’s more: a backyard, quiet and familiar, candles flickering in front of the trees, rose petals tucked into the scene. No theatrics, no grand performance—just a question, a ring, and a yes that felt more like an unspoken agreement they both already knew was coming. 💍

September can’t come soon enough, friends! Thanks for letting me be the one behind the lens ❤️

Some studio love with this fabulous family 🥰

I always aim for the effortless feel of every photo, but that comes with intentional posing in action. Most of my best shots of people are actually snapped a shot or 2 after “the shot” and so with time, playing with angles, studying others work, many conversations, a lot of trial and error and editing, I’ve figured out what works for me and what I love to see.

So know that whoever you choose as your professional photographer or videographer, it took a lot of passion, dedication, diligence and discipline, art and developed style to deliver to you those perfect moments to pass on for the rest of time! Oh… and a glorious amount of money 🥲 I just settled on the canon and the R5MarkII was a pretty penny 🥲🥲

But of course, all worth fueling the obsession 🫶

Virginia in the fall never disappoints—crisp air, warm light, and a landscape bursting with deep and golden colors. But what really made this day beautiful was this family!! From filming their vows years ago to capturing their fall photos as a family of three, it’s moments like these that make me so grateful for this work; being entrusted with pieces of their story—memories that will be passed down for a lifetime! 🥹

But of course, The Bouchards are as kind and genuine as they are gorgeous inside and out, and they made this family session all too easy 🥰🥰

Editing Break! Our cute little family took a trip to Skyline at the crack of dawn and although it was part work part play, it’s hard not to get captured by the views and healed by the mountain air. Played around a bit with these edits as I take a step into the Fuji universe and am lovnnnn the colors. From Sony, to Canon, to Fuji, I believe I’m at a crossroads butttttt I’ll have to decide after I get through this queue of edits 🤓🤓

Hope the rest of you photographers and videographers are finding some breathers too. For your photo lovers out there in the DMV, peak foliage has started! Get out there! 🍁

Do you guys have couple friends where you love them for eachother just as much as you love them individually? That’s Amanda and Richard. Both the same kind of kind, considerate, calm and down to earth, and the chemistry between them something I found myself admiring. It’s sweet, it’s simple, it’s full. I don’t think I’ve cried this much at a wedding, and I also think that Ive discovered what kind of music triggers the welling of such strong feelings lol. All in all, it was another sweet sweet shoot for a couple I’m honored to do this for, and am pleased with so many of these beautiful shots!

Victoria and Matt’s wedding at the exquisite Willard Intercontinental ❤️

From the moment I stepped in until the very last minute I was there, V+M’s day was a celebration I won’t forget. Jess and I were captivated by every detail—because honestly, it’s the Willard lol. But beyond the elegance, it’s always about the people. Victoria and Matt, their vibrant bridal squad—friends since childhood—and every guest, every family member, even their wedding planner, radiated a kind of warmth and joy you just want to hold onto. Feeling deeply grateful to have captured the story of two kindred spirits becoming one!

Photo dump from the last few months and a casual update 🙂

Grace and I have been navigating the delicate art of balance this year, and it’s been amazing to discover I can actually relax! 🤓 For those who know me, Lovepersecond is more than just a business—it’s a deep passion that’s been a huge part of my life. My commitment to the craft and to our clients has often overshadowed my personal life, a reality that has, regrettably, eroded my peace and well-being. So after a couple of years of “okay I’ll do the balance thing this year”, 2024 is the year I feel like I’ve arrived. I’ve regained balance through actually adjusting our load limit and re-structuring the year. It’s hard to believe it’s already September, and looking back, I’ve felt so much fulfillment in working just as hard, loving our clients just the same yet being able to cherish my community, my relationships and nurture myself. The quest for balance is never easy, yet it unveils one of life’s most profound joys. As someone devoted to capturing fleeting moments, I’m continually reminded that embracing the present is one of the greatest gifts life offers.

The last photo is from Claude Monet, an artist that worked hard and lived it up with a house full of friends and admirers to his very end. He decorated his home outside of trends because that’s what he liked. I like that. There’s something in the way he lived his life for all of us. 🫶☀️

The magic of baby birthday aesthetics has truly taken flight these past few years and my heart melts as I capture these tiny, beautiful details that make each celebration special. I wish I had the time and space to do more of these precious celebrations and maybe … JUST maybe I will!

Have you ever listened to a song that transported you to a land of a million feelings? You know the ones that make you feel so many things at once: a happy sadness, a quiet excitement, dreamy inspirations and an urgency to listen to the song again and again and again….😂😅

As a videographer and editor, it’s the songs that make everythinggggg and my obsession to find the perfect ones for each of our clients can easily be one of the longest processes of the edit. But also, as I look back at some of my shoots that i never posted(like this lovely one!), songs from that summer season come back to me and so do those good ol vibes.

Currently listening to this song posted here on repeat, not sure why quite just yet, but if you’re a feeler like me, IYKYK 🫶
