Mission: "To create opportunities for the greater community to engage in and experience all facets of the arts." The Capitol Theatre has touched the lives of almost everyone who has resided in the Franklin County area. For many in the community, the Capitol is the “go-to” place for quality arts and entertainment experiences. For others, it provides a creative outlet for performing on stage in play

s, ballets, and concerts or working behind the scenes. Many memories have been made over the years watching movies on the big screen, attending live shows, and listening to the mighty Moller Theatre Pipe Organ, which sounds as vibrant today as it did over 90 years ago. You can be a part of preserving the Capitol for the children of today and future generations so they too can “grow up” with equally fond memories at the Capitol. Capitol Theatre Center Foundation operates independently as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. Like most non-profit theatres throughout the country, Capitol Theatre Center experiences a financial gap between what it costs to operate the cultural arts center and the amount of money generated through ticket sales, facility rentals, and concessions. We are able to close the financial gap, in large part through grants; endowment interest income; marketing partnerships; and donations from individuals and businesses as part of the annual Capitol Forever Campaign. There are many ways an individual, family, or corporation can contribute to the Capitol Theatre Center Foundation. All gifts are greatly appreciated and may be tax-deductible depending upon the type of gift and your own personal tax situation. Our first event in eve of the holidays is just around the corner! 😱 Join us Sunday, December 1st, for Director Lynn Lerew's Farewell Show with Hagerstown Municipal Band! Lerew is a local legend, many know him from his band years at CASHS, but he's notably been the Director of the Hagerstown Municipal Band since 1975! So let's give him the send off to retirement he's very much earned! 😊

Joining Lynn and the band are two very talented special guests: Bob Eyer on the Moller Theatre Pipe Organ and vocalist Lisa Turchi! Both performers will surely bring even more magic to the show, which has a mix of Christmas tunes as well as other songs. 🎶🎄🥁🎺🎷

We're so excited to be joining United Way of Franklin County for their Winter Warmth Drive this year! 😄❄️🧤

Starting November 21st (and the debut night of Chambersburg Community Theatre's It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play), we'll have a donation box out in the area just inside our main entrance under the marquee, where you can donate various items to help local families stay warm and fed this winter. ❤ We'll be collecting the following items listed here until January 15th: https://www.thecapitoltheatre.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Winter-Warmth-Drive-Phase-1-Highlighted.png

The holiday season is upon us, and we're ready to kick it off! Hopefully those of you who prefer this discussion after Thanksgiving can forgive us for posting now. 😂🤪

Those of you who aren't really a fan of holiday tunes, have no fear, as the Christmas songs are sprinkled into this show with non-holiday songs. The Chambersburg Ballet will present the traditional holiday classic, The Nutcracker on Sat., Dec. 14th (3 and 7 p.m.), and Sun., Dec. 15th (3 p.m.) at Chambersburg's historic Capitol Theatre. The show will feature a cast of over 40 dancers of the Chambersburg Ballet, and includes professional guest artists and choreography by Chambersburg Ballet's Artistic Director, Brian Grant.

The roles of the Sugarplum Fairy and her Cavalier will be performed by guest artists Jacqueline Moscicke, who performed with the Joffrey Ballet and is currently a freelance dancer and Christopher Lingner, a former principal dancer of the Indianapolis Ballet.
