This is my why! My mother Elaine Perry!

In 2013, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society launched the Beat AML Master Trial, which aims to diagnose and treat Acute Myeloid Leukemia more swiftly and effectively by developing targeted treatments for each AML subtype. Nine years later, this trial has generated 9 unique therapies, all FDA approved, that are saving the lives of more AML patients than standard chemotherapies ever could. Spotlight Marcel: Marcel is one of the funniest kids around and his big smile lights up the entire room. He loves Thomas the Train, Marvel and DC movies, meatloaf, and strawberry ice cream. What you may not know is that Marcel was 4 years old when he was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2017. Marcel was experiencing a lot of pain in his legs; it was so bad that he wasn’t walking anymore. After several trips to the doctor, his mom took him to the Emergency Room, and they diagnosed him. Thankfully, Marcel responded well to chemotherapy and treatment, and he is now back in school and being an awesome big brother.

During Marcel’s treatment, his family was able to enroll in 4 of our financial assistance programs, including our Urgent Need Program. This program provides a $500 grant to families to help cover the cost of rent, mortgage, utilities, food, childcare and more. It’s because of donors like you, that we were able to provide this needy service.

Did you know that the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society not only funds cancer research, but also offer a variety of patient care programs as well? From Information Specialists to financial resources, the LLS offers programs that help patients and their families find out about treatment options and receive everything from co-pay assistance to travel reimbursement to help with costs related to housing, utilities, childcare, elder care, food, transportation and more. Please consider making a donation so more families can receive support like Marcel’s family did; these services are a true lifeline for many.

💥‍ BAM! POW! ZAP! Today is LLS’s inaugural Superhero Visionaries Action Day and I am joining forces with my fellow Superhero, Grace, in raising funds for cancer patients everywhere in partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

When Grace was just 4 years old, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and she and her family have been committed to the fight against cancer ever since.

Every 180 seconds, someone in the U.S. has their life turned upside down by a blood cancer diagnosis. When this happens, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is there, providing guidance, education, and support every step of the way.
