In 1997, Jean Williams took over ownership of Floral Expressions and Gifts of Chapel Hill. Under direction of Mr. Tracy Hackney and Mrs. Alice Hackney, Floral Expressions grew, like a flower, with love and nourishment.
About a year later, Alicia Roper Springfield, Jean’s niece, came on board learning the trade. She was apprentice to Tracy for a number of year before he retired in 2007. On June 1, 2003 , Alicia completed the North Carolina Certified Professional Florist accreditation. Today, Alicia is the head designer. When not in the shop creating beautiful floral presentations, she continues her floral education and competes in floral competitions. In the future, she hopes to become international recognized in the American Institute of Floral Designers as a Certified Floral Designer on a higher level.
In 2005, Virginia Roper, Jean’s sister and Alicia’s mother began to take over ordering for the shop. She is now the master of product. Ginger runs the business side of things.
From time to time, you may find Ginger’s son or Alicia’s daughter in the shop as well.
