Blessed 80th birthday Jimmy Cliff !

The Jamaican musician, actor, singer, songwriter, producer and humanitarian was born James Chambers on 30th July 1944, in the Somerton District of St. James,

His songs include 'YOU CAN GET IT IF YOU REALLY WANT', 'MANY RIVERS TO CROSS', 'REGGAE NIGHT', 'VIETNAM', 'HAKUNA MATATA' AND 'HUMAN TOUCH' .

He had a starring role in the cult, classic Jamaican film from 1972 'THE HARDER THEY COME', which featured a number of his songs and helped popularize music around the world.

His other film appearances include 'CLUB PARADISE', 'MUSCLE SHOALS', and 'MARKED FOR DEATH'.

He was awarded the Jamaican 'ORDER OF MERIT' and was inducted into the 'ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME' in 2010.

He won the for 'BEST REGGAE ALBUM' in 1985 with 'CLIFF HANGER' and in 2012 with the album 'REBIRTH'.

The reggae legend teamed up with for the song ' ', which was released on 29th July 2022.

He is the only living reggae musician to hold the Order of Merit, the highest honour that can be granted by the Jamaican government for achievements in the arts and sciences.

Chris Dixon has passed on…Chris’ devotion to proper analog bass heavy sound was on display each time he ran the boards at our beloved Charlemont Reggae Festival..he and Ras Jahn were tight friends who went back many years..Chris ran sound for 1000’s of shows over the years and was a first call for Reggae gigs..he will be missed..❤️

Remembering my uncle, Carlton Barrett, on the anniversary of his passing. He was a true pioneer of reggae music and his contributions to the genre will never be forgotten. His drumming was the backbone of the legendary Bob Marley and The Wailers, and his spirit lives on in the music we continue to create today. Rest in power, Carlton.
