Growing up I never seen my grandmother use a measuring cup
I remember being amazed watching her cook and taste her food
She'll add a little bit of this and that through out the process
And every time it would be perfect!
I would call her as an adult and say "Ma what you put in your greens"?
No matter the recipe I was asking about the ingredients were always the same
Ma: " oh well I just put a little bit of salt and black pepper in it and just a pinch of sugar"
Somehow I always knew there was more to the recipe but I would always just smile and say " oka try it and let you know how it turns out"
I would go in the kitchen and follow the recipe step by step
Clean, rinse, dry,.... Salt, pepper and just a liiittttllleee bit of sugar..
I'd taste as I go and add a little this and a little that and sure nuff It'd come out perfect
