This is one of our favorite go-to florist hacks to get fresh flowers to open up without damaging their petals.
Sometimes fresh flowers have discolored petals on the outside that need to be removed, but it can cause the flower to look smaller and closed off with less petals. A great solution for this is to gently remove the outer petals if needed, and use this spinning trick to open the flower up naturally!
Simply remove any unwanted thorns and leaves from the stem, and roll the stem quickly back and forth between your hands. The natural gravity pull will cause the flower to open up, and make it look fresh and luscious.
REMEMBER: this hack only works on petal flowers like roses. Some delicate floral like baby’s breath can be damaged by this technique and require a different approach to popping open safely.

Trying to choose between FRESH or FAUX
wedding florals? We got you!
There are so many pros and cons with each, but the
biggest difference is the customization options with
faux florals, the amazing aroma with fresh, and the
lifespan and care involved for each.
Faux gives you perfect color match, long lifespan (keep
it forever) and requires almost no upkeep. Fresh gives
you the amazing smell, the classic fresh look, but does
limit you to seasonal availability and natural color hues.
We absolutely love both for different reasons, and
ultimately the choice comes down to preference and
priorities.
If you don’t mind keeping the fresh florals refrigerated
and rushing them to a preservation vendor after the
event, fresh might be perfect for you!
If you are prioritizing budget, lifespan or color matching,
faux might be the way to go.
When you’re choosing between the two, remember you
can always choose BOTH. Many of our clients choose
to have all of the decor done if faux, and bridal party
arrangements fresh, or vice versa.
Talk to your florist to determine which options fit your
priorities best.
And as always, we are glad to answer any questions
you have! Drop them in the comments! 🫶🏽
