Love isā¦something special and it is everything.
October has brought the unexpected in so many ways. Hurricane Helene left an unimaginable impact on our beloved mountains, yet the resilience and support within our communities have emerged just as powerfully.
The handwritten note above is from one of my brideās second grade students. The Lackey wedding was my first to be impacted by Helene and while we scrambled to rework over 12 months of wedding planning in just 5 days, their families and friends showed up in the biggest ways. While I was without power, people within their circle were showing up at my home offering to wash and iron linens, print and build menus, and even hold my 6 month old while I talked to other vendors to come up with a game plan. Cole and Bridget remained unwavering in their kindness and graciousness. Love, in so many ways, is something special.
The same week, our small TCC Instagram following raised $5,540 that went directly into the hands of displaced young families (you guys, we bought literal thousands of ounces of pre-made baby formula). Every time I was able to access cell service, someone new had made a donation. Those little instances of people loving people have made a lasting impact on me in ways I will never forget. And although there was heartbreak and chaos all around, one thing will always stand out: Love is something special and it is everything.
