On top of a mountain, surrounded in {surprise} fog....this was one of our trickiest weddings ever but all of the vendors pulled together and made it magical with huge changes just moments before guests arrived. Well, everyone other than the poor vintage car that couldn't make it up the foggiest mountain you've ever seen.

The 🌞 is out and the temps are rising and we couldn't be more happy! Clearly we are terrible at social media , but we're going to try and do better! Rolling through this 🐪 day reliving this past weekend’s epic SOUL TRAIN. Clients Jada + Chris Paul (NBA’s finest 🏀) asked us to design a blowout party for her father who turned 60. 🕺🏿 In just three weeks time we turned the Kimpton Cardinal ballroom into something even Beyonce would approve. 😎

Did you find a venue that you love but think it's a little too dark? An easy solution, draping. Draping is extremely helpful in lightening a space and really transforming it so it takes on a whole different attitude. Ceiling treatments are just dreamy and we know some fabulous vendors that would make it happen for you! Our favorites: Tell them CED sent you!

Hey! I’m Hannah. I’m a born and bred North Carolinian with a love for all things southern (mainly pecan pie and front porch swings).

My background is in writing & editing. I’m a 2012 graduate of the University of North Carolina (Go Heels!). Before fate led me to my dream job working with Heather, I spent years perfecting sentences & crafting love stories with Charlotte Wedding magazine, and a handful of other publications across the southeast. Details...the joy of designing is in the details. And details don't have to break the bank....but they can break hearts (in a good way). Give your place setting a delicate touch by added menu wraps to serve as the name card instead of the typical tent card. When guests slide off these personalized touches, they'll appreciate the time and attention you gave to detail.

It's Friday y'all (we made it through the week!! 🙌🏼) and another is here with your second CED gal, Erin!👱🏼‍♀️........
Hey hey! I'm Erin. A wild child hippie at heart who can’t resist a bit of glam. Birth certificate says NC but I have a love for travel. After several trips to Costa Rica last year, I'm trying to convince Heather for a South American CED expansion. Anyone?? 🕶🌞🌊

My background is in luxury hospitality with stints at the Greenbier, Pinehurst Resort, and the Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge. I officially joined CED in 2013 and haven't looked back since.

Colorful weddings are my jam, especially with funky decor. I might be pint sized but I can hold my own on wedding day and have been known to toss a dinner table over my shoulder when needed.

It's the task that is often the most daunting, most frustrating, and stressful throughout the whole process. You've invited everyone...they've responded...and now....the seating chart. (dun dun duuuunnnnn)

It's the one thing other than creating the initial guest list that we can't help our clients with really. I mean, we offer advice but we can't determine if mouthy and jaded Aunt Sally is sane enough to sit next to crabby politically-charged Aunt Carol for the dinner portion of the evening. Politics and weddings don't mix
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here's what you need to keep in mind:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's an hour. 60 mins. In reality it isn't that long and most everyone can behave for 60 minutes right? Don't fret and give yourself stress induced acne because you are worried about other people's manners. Let them stress about it. Your wedding is a great time for everyone to act like an adult and mind manners ;-)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's a happy occasion and most are truly coming to celebrate YOU! The day and evening are both filled with love and we've literally had mothers and step mothers (who despised each other) hugging and cheers'ing during the reception because they've put aside their differences for YOU and want to enjoy the day with you. (yes a little wine was involved but hey, we do what we have to)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lastly, most dinner tables are round (or wide enough) where you can't truly have convos with someone across the table... most conversations will happen to the two people on each side of you. If someone at a round table doesn't jive with another, put them on opposite sides where they have a full 60 inches of table, china, and floral pieces in between them.

A simple arrangement is all you need for a cocktail table. Guests are only around for an hour (or less) and are too busy mingling, gabbing, and tasting the yummy passed hors d'oeuvres to really pay attention to the tables. Save your wow factor for the reception when they're seated and able to really appreciate what you designed.

If you think first looks aren’t emotional...think again. They are such sweet precious moments, in the stillness of you and your love. No one staring at you. You’re able to actually talk to one another, compared to standing at the altar when you can’t. You get to hug and not let go.

It may not be for everyone but it works for so many. This is also a great idea if your photographer is concerned with lighting on wedding day for pics post ceremony....sometimes it gets too dark and you have to manufacture light, which changes the whole vibe.

Worth the conversation. 😉💕
