Sorry for the long post:
Just giving everyone a heads up because these scammers are real. Got an email from a supposedly business owner inquiring about my gift basket business, Beyond Gift Baskets. He was looking to get 15 baskets made at $300 each and then shipped to his employees. He gave me a list of items that he would like to have included and asked if my company could handle the order. Asked me if I accepted credit cards (now here’s where the red flag starts)! He could only pay via CC and would only be able to give me the information over the phone since he’s not located near my business area. He was ready with a list of his employees that I would be sending the baskets off to. All hell broke loose when I stated that yes I can accept a CC but to start the order I would need a $2000 non-refundable cash deposit before I would even attempt to start the order. I already knew it was a SCAM!!! Once I mentioned the cash deposit his entire attitude changed, I don’t use cash, I have no cash apps, I can’t send via Zelle because my accounts aren’t up and running correctly. So what type of business are you that you have no access to your cash??? I ended the scam with this…….you can contact me when you’re ready to send the non-refundable $2000 cash deposit, until then go find another company that will take a CC from you on an order that size, because it’s not mine.
HOW THE SCAM WORKS:
He was going to have me make and ship the baskets and then dispute the charge from my company with his CC company saying that I stole his CC information and being that I didn’t swipe the actual card his CC company would reverse the payment. A very OLD SCAM!!!!!
