My dance friends.... from all corners of the world, you have held me up. Your prayers, and your love have touched me to the bottom of my heart. My mother loved life. Throughout her life, she only sought to give love first. She was thrown into concentration camps twice by the fascist government of her home country, but she never forgot her culture and her first love... dance. Aurea Star was her stage name in Barcelona 1945. She danced Tangos, Rumbas, and Foxtrots for the powerful and elite of society in post civil war Spain. A movie was scheduled to be made with her as the star. Aurea Star was going places. A cruel twist of fate landed her in prison a second time, and her firstborn son was snatched from her never to be seen again... lost to the "adoption" program of the fascists. She loved young people, and flowers, and cooking, her mother, and great discussions. Most of all, Aurea Ximenez loved life, dance, music, and her family. Tonight, Aurea Star left the dance floor for the final time destined for a future in the stars that she never got here on earth. All those who sent messages and support will be forever cherished. I promise to honor her memory be doing the best I can to bring the world of dance to a world filled with strife. My mother's history is written. She published a book and was working on her second when she drifted softly away from us in my arms tonight. The one thing I can say about my mother is .... she mattered. No matter what the fascists, or the governments, or the consiglieres of the camps tried to tell her... she mattered. She birthed four children and raised three. She never stopped loving all of them. Even at 97, her life was incomplete. She had a son to find, a book to write... a story to tell. If anyone cares to listen... my mother was someone special. I can only hope to be as intelligent, as caring as artistic an passionate as she was. I see her love in the smile of my daughter. I hope I can live up to the hope, joy, and love she gave to my little girl. Aurea Star left the dance floor tonight. Lights down. Curtain closed. Tomorrow is another day to dance that she will watch from above. I love you Mom. Please don't go far. I still need you.

Our friends at Bunge Corporation in China have built us a beautiful retractable wall for our studio. It is currently located on board the Ever Magi at coordinates 36.25717x143.47971 E On its way to Balboa, Panama where it will cross the canal and head to Savannah. We can't wait!!!

This is so well said. Our reward is seeing those young people believe in themselves in their adult years because someone believed in them during childhood!

FROM A DANCE PARENT:
One of my friends asked "Why do you pay so much money and spend so much time running around for your daughter to dance ?" Well I have a confession to make: I don't pay for my daughter's dance lessons. Or her pointe, Jazz & tap shoes. Or her hundreds of costumes.

So, if I am not paying for dance , what am I paying for?

- I pay for those moments when my girl becomes so tired she feels like quitting but doesn't..

- I pay for the opportunity that my girl can have and will have to make life-long friendships.

- I pay for the chance that she may have amazing instructors that will teach her that dance is not just about movement but about life.

- I pay for my child to learn to be disciplined.

- I pay for my girl to learn to take care of her body.

- I pay for my daughter to learn to work with others and to be a proud , supportive, kind and respectful team member.

- I pay for my child to learn to deal with disappointment, when she doesn't get that score she hoped for , or fell during a move she has practiced a thousand times, but still gets up and is determined to do her BEST next time...

- I pay for my girl to learn to make and accomplish goals.

- I pay for my daughter to learn that it takes hours and hours and hours and hours of hard work and practice to create a champion, and that success does not happen overnight.

- I pay so that my daughter can be in the studio instead of in front of a screen...

I could go on but, to be short, I don't pay for dance; I pay for the opportunities that dance provides my child to develop attributes that will serve her well throughout her life and give her the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen for many, many years, I think it is a great investment!

Responsibilities:Plan and deliver engaging dance lessons that cater to various skill levels and age groups, ranging from 3 to 18 years old.
Instruct students in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and Lyrical dance styles, focusing on proper technique, form, musicality, and artistic interpretation.
Create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where students can express themselves, build self-esteem, and develop a lifelong love for dance.
Foster positive relationships with students and their families, promoting open communication and collaboration.
Develop and choreograph routines for performances, recitals, and competitions.
Collaborate with fellow instructors and the artistic director to enhance the curriculum, ensuring a well-rounded dance education.
Stay informed about the latest trends and developments in the dance industry, adapting teaching methods as needed.
Assist with costume selection for competitive and performance teams.
Travel with teams to dance events, competitions, and conventions. (Approx 4 weekends per year.)
Occasionally teach or assist with ballroom dance classes, utilizing any experience or interest in this style.

Qualifications:Proven experience as a dance instructor, with expertise in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and Lyrical dance styles.
Strong passion for dance education and a genuine interest in fostering students' growth and development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in working with children and teenagers.
Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans that cater to different learning styles.
Familiarity with ballroom dance is a plus, but not required.
Flexibility in working evenings until approximately 8:00 - 8:30 PM.
Enthusiasm for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusivity in the dance studio environment.

We had a fabulous time at the North Carolina Open! We went to support our good friend Igor Litvinov. We truly got more than we expected! We enjoyed an amazing day of dancing and a fabulous professional show! We went home with some unexpected awards winning Top Silver Student, Top Teacher, and Top Studio! Wow! What a fantastic pleasure surprise at the end of a great day of hard work and fun dancing!
