Write in Jordan Verasamy for High Bailiff!

A note from Jordan, herself:

To my Vermont friends, I am here to announce that I am running a write-in campaign for High Bailiff!

What on Earth is a High Bailiff you ask? I asked that earlier today as I filled out my absentee ballot. (And became my first vote!)
High Bailiff is a position unique to Vermont.

Usually, there are little to no official duties outside of extenuating circumstances- which includes serving writs a sheriff cant, and being a temporary successor to sheriff in the event of incarceration, incapacity, resignation, etc.

Historically someone within the law enforcement field holds this position, but within recent years other Vermont residents have run with community oversight on law enforcement in mind.

I have chosen to do the same.

Not seeing a name on the ballot for this role showed me we are lacking in options with who we put into our public offices. Too often, within my three years as an eligible voter I have seen positions on my ballot with one or zero names. Time and time again candidates who do mediocre jobs run unopposed and maintain the status quo.

As a young, biracial, pansexual woman (a historic opposite of the law enforcement’s demographic), I feel my presence, however it may manifest, would be an incredible addition to our system and widen diversity on all levels.

I realized I cannot wait for others to step up and make change, I have to step up and be the change myself.

It’s not often you see a young person running for any office position, let alone a write-campaign. I hope we can make history and change the world for the better.
