When the fall chill starts to creep in and we offcially enter October, I always like to reminisce over my favorite fall weddings and all their cozy elements.

Heading back to Italy this week for D+Ms incredible Italian wedding weekend chock full of so much goodness I don't know how we are squeezing it all into 3 days!

But here's a little glimpse at our last lovely couple who got married in Italy, Casey and Luke. Still one of the wildest and most wonderful wedding weekends ever, we even beat the weather!

TIP TUESDAY
(Let me know if we should make this a thing)

I'm currently flying back from Brussels to Dc today and my pilot IS MY CLIENT ALEX HOW COOL IS THAT!?

Anyway expect me to not shut up about that for forever.

Now for the tip!

With your wedding day timeline, beauty timing can be a point of contention because not everyone loves waking up at the crack of dawn for full glam. BUT the best way to build your timeline is by starting with your ceremony time (which is one of the very first times you'll have set during the planning process) then working backwards from there with your planner and photographer to figure out when you need to get dressed. This amount of time varies based on first look, wedding party photos, family photos etc. so def. check with your team.

From getting dressed time to the time you need to have your makeup done it's typically 15-30 minutes (include any extra time for pj photos, touch-ups, opening a gift/card from your partner) and voila! You have your end time! (for example if you need to get dressed at 3:30pm your glam should be done ideally by 3pm at the latest)

From there, give your beauty time the time you must be done along with the total number f services and they can tell you what time services will start!

Pro tip: Don't want to roll out of bed that early? Ask your beauty team if there are ways to cut down on the hours by either adding additional artists up front, assistants or even having your beauty done a bit earlier so you can get ready while your wedding party is still getting their services done.

Is this helpful? Do you have any other timeline specific questions I can answer?

dreaming up something amazing! What’s the role of a destination wedding planner?

When it comes to planning an epic destination wedding there are a few key things we do to make sure your weekend runs smoothly.

As a planner with over a decade of experience and having worked in over 6 different countries I can guide you through what to expect, what to avoid and how to plan something uniquely you while incorporating local flare into your celebration.

For this particular wedding you see me smiling at my couple like a proud Kris Jenner meme, we found a private cove with a cliffside restaurant accessible only by boat. In lieu of a beach day or pool party, we whisked guests away to this private enchanted place where they enjoyed the ocean breeze, amazing food, great drinks and a dip in the ocean before heading back to the resort.

How do I make travel easy for guests attending a destination wedding?

Shuttle timing, welcome guides and curated itineraries are key when traveling abroad with 100 of your loved ones.

When we begin our destination wedding planning journey together we are considering a number of factors, here are a few for you to include:

1. What is the currency and exchange rate? Are cards taken everywhere or do you recommend guests take out cash?
2. Transportation: Are all of your events and your lodging on the same property? Are you providing transport to and from the airport?
3. Have you included the itinerary in your wedding invitation, online or provided in welcome bags?

What’s the best season for a wedding in Italy, France, or Mexico?

You probably know peak season varies from region to region but did you know that shoulder season in certain locales can offer you similar weather, lower rates and a much more availability?

Below you'll see one of my favorite images from J+Ds wedding we planned in Arequipa, Peru.

Despite it being the middle of July, temperatures were cool since their wedding was in the southern hemisphere!

What's better than a crisp night and an open air dance floor? I can't think of much!

How do I choose the perfect destination for my wedding in Europe or Mexico?

Cliffside magic or beachfront bliss? There are a million ways to plan a destination wedding but only a few that feel uniquely you.

Some of our favorite destinations have been special for the couple and others are ones we've curated from the heart.

THIS ONES FOR THE PLANNERS

NO SHADE BUT are you building your timelines like a jerk? 😂

Planning a wedding is complicated and figuring how long things take is truly an artform, but if you aren’t working with your creative partners, you’re setting yourself up for failure and everyone else up for frustration.

If you have trouble getting behind schedule on wedding day or you’re constantly frantic with timing, try this instead!

Before you make your clients wake up at the crack of dawn, ask your photo/video team what time they need everyone to be dressed and ready. (this may be for first look, portraits etc.) then back that up by 15 minutes and give your beauty team that time as the end of service time. Ask your beauty team what time they need to get started if they finish at that time. For example:

2:30pm - Fully dressed
3:00pm - First look

2:15pm - Beauty end time (there might even be more buffer if there are matching robe/pj photos, gift exchanges etc. so always check with your photog!)

Your beauty team knows their timing and usually also includes their own buffer time for services just in case someone has some last minute changes or gets locked in the bathroom 🥴

When your beauty team gives you the start time, you want to make sure everyone is there and ready to go by that time, face and hair prepped the way the beauty team requires.

If your start time is way too early because there are so many services, you can sometimes add another artist, but just check with your beauty team first!

Collaboration is the name of the game and always gets us to the finish line fast and fabulous!

Speaking of color...We all know “Something borrowed, something blue” but we really think everyone deserves something pink on wedding day too, wouldn’t you agree?

We designed Lauren & Jays wedding full of bright pops of bold fuschia, the brides favorite color! Incorporating what you love on wedding day is a sure way to know you’ll back loving every detail big and small!
