Good morning and Happy Monday!

We are so excited about the week ahead and celebrating an amazing couple this Saturday at King Family Vineyards. The always fabulous Aaron Watson Photography will capture all of the joy this Saturday!

This post, however, is not wedding focused but more political in nature and a PSA about our page until November. We will continue to focus on our weddings in our posts but our stories will also focus on our very important political climate. Our country is facing a very critical decision that will affect not only our economy but more importantly the rights of individuals.

We cannot allow decades of work to be undone by a hateful, closed-minded politician. It is time for the women in our country to stand tall and be a loud voice for change. We can make a difference this November!

Does design scare you when it comes to your wedding day?

We always encourage classic, clean design when planning your wedding and encourage staying away from trends.

However, there is middle ground for design between classic white and trends. We cannot love this Farmington wedding more! The bride chose a mix of fabrics for cocktail hour and reception tables with gorgeous florals to complement each.

Colored linen napkins and details on the table completed the design.

Have fun with your wedding decor! Your planner and florist will give you lots of design options to help you achieve your perfect look.

I am so excited to introduce the newest member of the team, Rebecca Rasmussen!

Rebecca has worked for a couple of Charlottesville’s premier venues and now brings her talent to the planning side of weddings. I have personally worked with Rebecca for several years and know what an asset she will be to our team.

I asked Rebecca to share a little about herself.

Hi, I am Rebecca and I am so excited to be a part of the Details and Lace Team to help dream, curate, and execute every detail from small to big with you for your special day.

I am an Augusta, GA native and moved to Charlottesville a little over 5 years ago for my husband’s job as one of the UVA Men’s Tennis coaches (GO HOOS). I started my career on the corporate & personal planning side of things as an Executive Assistant to a business owner. I truly believe this helped set up the necessary foundations for me in those prime responsibilities of being personable, organized, timely and responsible for so many moving parts at the same time. I finally found myself in the wedding business in 2018 and haven’t looked backed. I have had the privilege of working at some amazing venues here in Charlottesville since making the move and am excited to continue this journey on the planning side with an amazing team.

Outside of the office you will find me chasing my two kids Madison & Emmet around, cheering on my husbands at the courts and snuggling with my two golden retrievers. Yes, life is crazy but oh so fun and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Happy New Year, friends!

You may have noticed we’ve been a little quiet lately and I want to give you insight into what we’ve been doing.

First and most importantly, we are bringing on a new team member. We will be sharing more in the coming weeks but this is super exciting for the growth of the company and more importantly for the support of our couples.

We’ve also been working on the business side of things and improving processes. This isn’t the sexiest part of the business but crucial to ensure we’re serving our couples well.

Lastly, we’ve been learning. We’ve enrolled in an educational course from one of the industry’s best planners and again, we are looking forward to taking this information and applying all of the lessons to our business and our couples. ❤️

We will be sharing more about our progress and growth in the coming weeks and also sharing more from our amazing year of 2023. I have never enjoyed winter so stay tuned for our gorgeous spring 2023 weddings because we are craving the color and warmth of the season.

I love these photos of Brandon and his guys on his wedding day. Here are a couple of related planning issues when it comes to planning a great day for the groom and his men.

🕺Make sure the guys have enough room to hang out, relax, and have a little fun before getting ready.

🕺Make sure everyone has a great start to the day with planned meals. It’s important to have a smart breakfast and lunch to have the best day and drink lots of water!

🕺 Hire the second shooter There are so many moments you will want to remember from your wedding day. Having a second photographer ensures all the moments are captured.

Brandon and his guys did it right. They watched a little football, had lunch, played some games and enjoyed the moments. I think these smiles say it all.

Choosing your officiant.....

Your wedding ceremony is the most important 30 minutes of your wedding day. This time is special as all eyes are on you and your partner as you share your love and dedicate your lives to each other.

Choosing the right officiant is crucial to making you feel at ease so you can have as much fun as L & K shown here.

Did you know you have choices when it comes to choosing your officiant? We’re going to walk you through three+ choices to help you with this important decision.

✨ Clergy - If you are a member of faith-based organization, you can invite your clergy to officiate your wedding.

✨ “Paid Officiant” - If you are interested in a civil ceremony, ask us for recommendations. We work with a lot of wonderful officiants who will take the time to get to know you and your partner to make your ceremony as personal as it should be.

✨ Friend or Family - Did you know that you can ask a friend or family member to officiate your ceremony? You can! Virginia is a bit pickier than other states but with a little paperwork and a blessing from the Court, your friend or family member can be granted the legal authorization to marry you.

Side note - Virginia does not accept online certification and requires a Virginia resident to request authorization from the Court. If your “officiant” doesn’t meet this criteria, no fear. Your Details and Lace team can help. Just ask us how!

We are back in the office from a wonderful holiday break.

We enjoyed spending time with family and probably eating just a little too much.

Engagement Season will soon be here and couples will be visiting and selecting their perfect venue.

A few items to consider before making your selection:

🤍 What is the venue’s ideal capacity?
🤍 Do you prefer a band or a DJ? Does the venue have the capacity or allow a band?
🤍 What is the rain plan option? Would you be happy or devastated if forced to execute the rain plan?
🤍 For brides, when can you access the bridal suite? Is your hair and makeup artist allowed in the bridal suite? (Not every venue allows this)
🤍 For grooms, how is the groom’s room? Are their amenities to keep your party entertained and comfortable for a couple of hours?
🤍 Are their additional requirements or restrictions?

Every venue is different and it’s important to read all of the fine print. Some of the factors listed above directly impact your timeline for the day or add additional expense.

Discuss the pros and cons of several venues with your partner and planner before making any final decisions. This will ensure the beginning of your happily ever after.

Friday Feel The Love! We’re sharing the love with client testimonials 🤍🤍

For the months leading up to the wedding, every time we spoke with Melanie on the phone we hung up feeling completely relaxed and excited, despite coming to the call with a laundry list of to-dos. We had the perfect autumn scenery for Olivia and Brandon’s wedding at Pippin Hill this past weekend.

The weather was perfect for our couple’s ceremony and cocktail hour and later, guests enjoyed the fire pit for s’mores and ci**rs.
