ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Dexter is a world-renowned, award-winning, British vocalist considered by many to be one of the most influential female vocalists of our generation. Born and raised in Birmingham, England, this classically trained artist composes and arranges her own music. Influenced by legends such as Nancy Wilson, Abbey Lincoln, and Bob Marley, as well as popular icons Omar and Sade, Julie takes classic soul to the heart of Artistry.
Fans and critics across the globe have followed her journey through the circles of Jazz, Broken-Beat, Bossa-Nova, Reggae, Afro-Beat and Soul and she was recently honored at the Black Women in Jazz Awards with the Afro Caribbean Soul of Jazz Award. It was in 1999 that Julie took a leap of faith and moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she now resides.

Chattanooga Presents! & SoundCorps have issued a call for local bands to participate in the 2024 Road to Nightfall band competition, made possible by Flight by Yuengling. Up to thirty participating bands will take place in the series scheduled to take place at The Granfalloon March 15-23.

Registration can be found here: www.SoundCorps.org/RoadToNightfall

Applicants must have a minimum of three (3) performing band members with at least one (1) member playing a live musical instrument such as keyboards, drums, bass, or guitar. Applicants may have a DJ on stage playing backing tracks, but there must be at least one other accompanying instrumentalist, as well. All bands must reside within 50 miles of the City of Chattanooga.

Preliminary rounds will feature up to six (6) bands performing a 15 minute set of primarily original music. One cover song is allowed per performance.

One winner from each preliminary night will be chosen by audience vote and will advance to the finals, to be held on April 6. Each finalist act will have a 20 minute performance, to include a maximum of one cover song. The winning act will be chosen by a panel of music industry professionals and Nightfall Concert Series representatives.

The advancing band from each night of the series wins a cash prize of $300, while the overall winner receives a 90 minute headline performance spotlight at the Nightfall Music Series, which pays $1,000, with a host of other prizes.

The Road to Nightfall competition is a local band development effort and music competition designed to prepare up-and-coming local acts for the big stage.

The 2024 Road to Nightfall concert series is sponsored by Flight by Yuengling and is a collaboration between Chattanooga Presents! and SoundCorps. The series was developed over the last fourteen years by Gig City Productions with a host of other local partners.

Carpetbagger's Comedy Night returns from the dead Sat, Dec 2nd as part of Chattanooga’s MainX24 celebration.

For 3 years, Carpetbagger’s Comedy brought together NYC comics and Southeast favorites and regularly drew sold-out audiences. The show recently closed, but is back for this special night.

Tickets are $20 in advance at CarpetbaggersComedy.com or $24 at the door with cash or Venmo.

Seating is 9-9:30 while up-close magic is performed right at the seats by local illusionist Artifice.

MEET THE DEC 2 COMICS:

SHAUNAK GODKHINDI is an Atlanta comedian who’s performed at SXSW, Laughing Skull Fest, and Red Clay Comedy Festival. He’s opened for Kyle Kinane, Rory Scovel, and Sean Patton, and once made a lady laugh so hard she peed a little and she emailed him after the show saying that her night was ruined.

RICH HAPPEL • Rich Happel is a New York City based comedian who performs regularly in New York City’s comedy clubs and alternative rooms. Rich recently appeared in the Laughing Devil Comedy Festival and has been featured on Barstool Sports.

HAYLEY ELLMAN • Hayley Ellman is based out of Atlanta and charms audiences across the country with her balance of sincere, satirical, and silly. She was inspired to start writing and performing stand-up after watching the likes of Bill Cosby, Woody Allen, Louis CK, and other talented perverts. She still hasn't figured out how to tell people who her biggest influences are anymore.

DONNIE MARSH • Donnie Marsh is a Chattanooga comedian (and founder of the Lookout Comedy Festival) who mixes original songs with absurdist and insightful humor. If he could take the stage with anyone, alive or dead, it would be Maria Bamford. Alive.

PATRICK CUTTLE • Patrick Cuttle is new to the Chattanooga comedy scene, but has quickly become an audience favorite. He recently appeared on Don’t Tell Comedy and frequently performs at The Comedy Catch and all around the Southeast.

JEFF GREENSPAN • (Your host from Chattanooga - by way of NYC) Jeff was a regular at New York City’s Gotham Comedy Club and Stand Up NY. He’s appeared on Netflix and recently performed at the prestigious Limestone Comedy Festival
