Why yes, Lionel, it IS meat we're looking for, for this Meat Monday feature! Thanks to these fine businesses, you are all in for quite a delicious treat at the Buffalo German Fest this coming weekend!

First up, Stiglmeier Sausage Co.Inc. will be providing the sausages for the festival. The Buffalo German Fest Committee wanted to try something different this year and we hope you enjoy the selections, as much as we did at our tasting meeting! Stiglmeier produces first-class "German Style Sausages with a Bavarian Accent." Mrs. Stiglmeier grew up in Garmisch, learning how to sell sausage, and her husband Anton, mastered the secrets of sausage making in his native Munich. After emigrating to Chicago in the 1950s and working for other sausage businesses, the Stiglmeiers decided to open their own firm in 1960. Now located in Whelling, Illinois, their children John and Elizabeth have joined the team and help continue the business to grow. Their business was built on a firm foundation of old-fashion values, traditional Bavarian and other German recipes and a love of tasty sausage.

Next up is 'sPremiumMeats. By now, you know all about their delicious Smokehouse Hot Dogs and the fresh Carved-Off-The-Bone flavor of Sahlen’s Deli Meat. But did you know that Sahlen Packing Co., Inc. is a five-generation, family-owned business founded in 1869 which continues to be operated by the Sahlen family today?! It is headquartered in Buffalo in a 110,000 square-foot food manufacturing facility. They employ over 100 dedicated employees, who help deliver over 15 million pounds of meat (hot dogs and deli meat) all across the country…35 states to be exact! Their dedication to providing each one of their customers with the quality meat products they deserve is matched only by the delicious flavor those products pack with each bite.

Lastly, will be providing the ever-delicious treat of Leberkäse, which is a specialty food found in the south of Germany, in Austria and parts of Switzerland. It consists of beef, pork and bacon and is made by grinding the ingredients very finely and then baking it as a loaf in a bread pan until it has a crunchy brown crust. You slice it up, grill it up and serve it with a nice piece of roll or bread. Don't forget the mustard! Redlinski is local, family business that was established in 1947 when Joe Redlinski's grandfather and his brothers got back from serving in the Navy. They started making sausage in his grandmother's kitchen and sold it at the Broadway Market, until they saved up enough money to purchase a plant. In 2002, after 55 years, their Broadway Market store location closed and it moved to its currently location on Walden Ave. Joe Redlinski currently frequents the plant, making sure things are running smoothly there, and can also be found at their store serving their customers.

It is unfortunate that I need to say this, however, there are scammers out there. The Buffalo German Fest will never ask you for your personal information. You will not be contacted by someone, stating they are a representative of the Buffalo German Fest committee or the Federation of German-American Societies of Buffalo & Vicinity. Please do not trust posts from people on the Buffalo German Fest Facebook or the event page, stating that they have tickets they need to sell. First of all, any festival special presales tickets can only be picked up at the event at the Will Call Table. Please do not think you are helping someone out who purchased tickets that can no longer use them...it is a scam!
If something seems off, I am sure it is. I can verify by you bringing to my attention at [email protected]

I’m feeling SAUCY for yet another new Buffalo German Fest vendor reveal.... Buffalo Tom's Gourmet Hot Sauce Across The Nation! Buffalo Tom has been in the restaurant industry since 1976, where he was able to develop skills in every aspect of the business. Originally from Buffalo, Buffalo Tom shared his hot sauce at a few of the restaurants that he was employed at in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. After 10 years of hearing how great his hot sauce was from all the tourist that travel to that area, he decided to move back home to Buffalo and start selling it to customers in 2002. Since that time, it has expanded to every state across the Nation. Buffalo Tom recommends his original hot sauce to be 2nd to none in the industry. Being between medium to hot in hotness with a flavor sensation all its own, Buffalo Tom’s can be used as an additive or topping to boost the flavor of any food, from breakfast to dinner and beyond! Buffalo Tom has also been seen in the kitchen preparing his soon to be released Bloody Mary Mix, 5 more flavors of hot sauce, flavored salsa, an original spice shaker, an assortment of flavored nuts, beef jerky and even a Buffalo Tom’s Gourmet flavored brick of cheese. You can find Buffalo Tom’s Gourmet Hot Sauce in various stores throughout WNY, including The Made in America Store , three Save-a-Lot locations (Kenmore, Hamburg & Alden),Kenmore Fish Market, Depew Deli & Grocery, four Dash's Market locations (Buffalo, Clarence, Williamsville & Tonawanda) and Antique World. Make sure to follow Buffalo Tom on Facebook, or check out his website at: buffalotomsgourmetsauce.com. On a side note, the German American Musicians Association Inc first met Buffalo Tom right before going on their 2008 Germany tour, and they made sure to take the sauce with them for some samplings and photo ops! Where do you spy Buffalo Tom's Gourmet Hot Sauce?

Today we will be featuring another one of our instrumental groups, who will be performing at the Buffalo German Fest … The Bergholz German Band! They are a Blaskapelle (Brass Band) formed in 1971, who perform the traditional German hits that you know and love. Recently they have started to incorporate more contemporary arrangements into their show. Originally made up of fourth and fifth generation German settlers, who settled in Bergholz, near Niagara Falls, they now draw musicians throughout the Niagara Region. The Bergholz German Band performs all year round at many different types of events throughout the WNY area. They will be performing at the Buffalo German Fest on Saturday, August 31st from 5:00PM-9:00PM to close out the festivities! They are always looking for more musicians to join in on their “gemutlichkeit" and as I understand it, a music director. Make sure to follow them on Facebook and check out their website for more information: www.joshiep6.wixsite.com/bergholzgermanband
