Such a shame that GMA isn’t reporting news about flowers. Instead they are promoting these DOG’s (deceptive order gatherers) for the kickbacks. It clearly states they (GMA) get a commission on every order.

These DOG’s are just big companies who pay to advertise, claiming to be in every city/town of every state. In reality, DOG’s are NOT florists at all, just middleman who take a cut after deceiving the customers into believing that they are real florists. They go as far as often stating they are “family owned and operated”or “partner with local florist”. Those advertised prices are also misleading. DOG’s charge the unsuspecting customer all kinds of hidden mark ups and fees. They then take an additional percentage of each order before farming off the order, often with incomplete information, to warehouse fulfillment centers or to actual florist to fill the order. Many of these florists are under contract with companies such as FTD or Teleflora which have additional fees and dues of their own and contracts that make it insanely difficult for a florist to get out of. The result sadly is that these member flower shops are forced to increase prices to survive or many fail and close down. It is interesting to note that those warehouses typically use a lesser of grade product and mass produce without proper care or handling techniques. The products customers receive are quite often wrong or of a lesser quality/value than what they could have gotten had they shopped direct with a real local florist. Order gathering companies such as Ava’s, 1-800- flowers, Patricia’s Petals, From You Flowers and so many more including those promoted by GMA actually drive up prices across the industry! Furthermore, their reviews are filled with negative comments of unfavorable experiences from the customers such as … “undelivered” or “half dead”, “not what I ordered”, “left outside in the heat or freezing cold” etc.

Flower shops everywhere are uniting thru social media and refusing to fill orders from these deceptive order gatherers in an effort to save the integrity of the flower industry. There are so many wonderful, talented real professional florists who in addition to creativity and passion, practice proper flower care and handling and offer a far superior product and level of service! People should be made aware that buying local and supporting real independent flower shops is actually better for the economy, a better value and quality for the customer, better products for the recipients and better for the future of the flower industry.

Perhaps GMA could actually report on that.

A Floral Moment will be open today/Sunday/Mother’s Day from 9:30- 1 for in store shopping and pick ups only. Delivery is not available today. A note to all of you looking for prom flowers… We love doing the prom flowers but unfortunately are limited in what we can do this year. 🙃 A few weeks ago I injured my left hand and am still recovering. The intricate prom work (wiring/ taping, bow making and other mechanics are nearly impossible without the use of my thumb. We do have beautiful petite handtied bouquet available for grab and go for the girls to carry in lots of colors. I’m very fortunate to be able to essentially design arrangements with one hand. Sometimes it feels like I do this job in my sleep. Lol 💤 Especially this week of Cinco de Mayo, Nurses Day, Teacher Appreciation day and Mother’s Day! Hoping and expected to be healed enough for the senior prom. So sorry to all the juniors that we could not take your cotillion orders this year and hope you all have a fun and safe time tomorrow night.
