Best of all - and unlike their compatriots the tulips - they come back year after year! Buying narcissus bulbs now (for fall planting) is a terrific investment in your cutting garden. ...
If you order NOW, you’ll be able to get the cool daffodils, including the double-flowering, heirloom, split cup with different colored cup, multi-flower stems and miniatures (perfect for May Day posies). They need good drainage and at least 6 hours of sunlight. Keep away from tree roots. They’re quite easy to grow!

As some of you know, I’ve had a Modest Cutting Garden (TM) at our home for about seven years now. It’s been GREAT (and challenging) to grow many of the flowers I use in designing and in workshops. Lately, I’ve been busy harvesting tulips, narcissus, fritillaria and grape hyacinths. .
For those of you contemplating starting a cutting garden or mixing up what you’re growing now, consider this my PSA for you: It’s time to grow specialty daffodils (genus Narcissus)! These are hardy and easy-care flowers with simple and elegant beauty. Many are scented. Daffodils are not bothered by any critters, so no fencing or covers are needed. Keep them happy with good sun and good drainage. Let their leaves die back naturally after harvesting your flowers. And enjoy your amazing daffs for years to come! ...
