It's nice to have a holiday with fun in the sun by our pools, or out shopping, or enjoying our fav bevs outside. But this holiday is more than a day off. It's a reminder to take a beat and reflect.

Juneteenth reflects the triumph over injustice and illustrates the resilience of the black community in American society. As we celebrate freedom, we must not forget that we are still journeying towards a world where true equality is a priority.

Lack of diversity, discriminatory practices, and disparities in access to bridal resources and services for brides who are black are all still prevalent to this day.

As bridal stylists working at a small business, we feel as though we must commit to a future where fairness and inclusion is not just a goal, but an unshaken reality. We must take active steps every day in our practices to ensure every bride, no matter who they are, feels welcomed and accepted, because that is what they deserve.

Juneteenth is a celebration, but it is also a reminder to honor the journey towards inclusivity, diversity, and equality in all facets of life.

Loving Day is a celebration held on June 12 that commemorates the anniversary of the 1967 Supreme Court decision to strike down state laws banning in*******al marriage.

As a biracial woman, it's important to me that I embrace everyone's cultures and stories, and share my own as a testament that love truly knows no bounds.

As a stylist, I am excited every day to meet new marriers and hear about their own love stories. The unconditional and irrevocable love I see on their face when they tell me their story reminds me that love comes in any and all forms, no matter who you are.

Happy start of Pride Month!

Each year we use this month to think about how we can continue to celebrate love in all its beautiful ways, but also how we can honor this month by supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. and that's always worth celebrating, but Pride Month is so much bigger than a hashtag. We decided to take this month as an opportunity to help and support our community. So this year we're hosting our first ever drive in collaboration with , an amazing group who helps to improve & empower the lives of LGBTQ+ communities of color.

Here's how you can help (and also save on your wedding dress):

When I meet brides and their families, the most common question I get asked (besides wait...how old are you) is "So, who is Leigh?"

Laura & Leigh is named after me and my mom, Lynda Leigh. When I was first thinking of opening a bridal shop and the idea was just a seed, she was by my side in meetings, helping me with contracts, negotiating leases and supporting me in any and every way she could. She spent hours and took days off work to help me. She believed in my dream when even I wasn't sure I believed in myself. So even though she doesn't own Laura & Leigh with me, it wouldn't exist without her.

Thank you to all the moms who have supported us, especially when it's hard to support ourselves.

And a very happy mother's day to all the moms, step-mothers and supportive people who have filled that role in our lives, but especially to mine. 🩷
