today was my last day of retail for the season! i really, really debated on keeping retail open this winter and sourcing flowers from different parts of the country/world because, after doing this for so many years in the city, that is all i know. i have spent the last few weeks trying to undo everything i know about providing fresh flowers in the winter and, ultimately, decided to close for the off season.

the truth is, i don’t want to stay open and fly in flowers as it goes against my ethics and the direction i’m taking my flowers AND farm. my focus has definitely shifted more towards the farm since the season ended - earlier seed starting, dahlia dividing, season extension, row expansion, etc. my goal is to make the next year of growing flowers extra, extra special for all of my customers and clients!

i will continue to book weddings and gatherings for 2025 into 2026. if you’re interested in beautiful, local, responsibly grown flowers, please visit the website so we can connect 🥰

looking forward to sunshine and a sea of colorful flowers!

a day late but happy, happy thanksgiving to everyone!

this year has brought sooo many life changes, all the excitement, feelings of happiness, feelings of sadness, lots of personal growth, and quite a few pivots in my flower business.

this year, i’m grateful for so much but, most importantly, the space i have, physically and mentally. i have been able to spend more time with my daughter as i navigate the plans for next season and that is truly a blessing. i can’t wait for another season of growing and designing all the beautiful, quality flowers for my customers and clients 🌸

i don’t participate in but i would encourage everyone to support their local, small businesses whenever they can - not just today or tomorrow. buying from and supporting small businesses truly makes a difference and feels better for everyone involved.

hope everyone enjoyed the holiday! may the countdown to spring and newness begin!!

i planted just a few of these pretty late in the game. they’re a more muted shade of yellow, pretty petite, naturally branchy, super long vase life, and they turned out to be an amazing cut flower for me/some others i wholesale to. i plan to grow a lot more of these for 2025 (which seems so far away but the plans are already in place)!

this was an arrangement i made with the last of ‘em and leftovers from a wedding we did on the first day of fall. all the locally grown flowers here including some of my favorite invasive “weeds” i’ve discovered this season on the field - pigweed and mugwort. remember…weeds are just flowers/foliage growing in the wrong place and if used, don’t compost them - be sure to safely burn or trash them to stop them from spreading.

it’s been an amazing week of flowers! 🌸

i’ve sent flowers out the door (through daily orders and smaller events) almost everyday and i haven’t had to buy in any flowers just yet! it’s about mid-october and, still, everything i used has been grown and harvested (or foraged 😌) by me. not sure what next week will look like so i’m really soaking in this last stretch of my official first season as a 🙌

also…my bulbs have officially shipped since the dockworkers strike, the are winding down slowly, the are on their way to the , and i did my first flower pop up in almost two years last friday - it was so much fun!!

the field is getting seedy and i can feel my bones telling me it’s just about time for cozy, season. so thanks to everyone who has ordered one way or another and making this last push of fresh flowers so beautiful!

a wildly colorful bouquet for hannah 🦋💘

featuring my only ‘bells of ireland’ plant that made the cut this season! i planted them a little too late but reserved the tallest one just for this moment. as i twisted up this bouquet, i thought about all the bells that didn’t make it to the show but they somehow taught me a lot.

farming flowers is a labor of love filled with failure, success, trial and error, lessons learned, lots of “ohh, damn, that’s why”. now, next season, i’m gonna grow the tallest, healthiest, most luscious ‘bells of ireland’…mark my words 🤣😁

it’s almost fall! which means it’s time for naturally dried flowers! 🌾🌸🍂

when i was designing the new studio space, i made sure to keep some of the existing ceiling rafters to hang dry flowers. as a sustainable florist, i absolutely love all natural dried flowers as an alternative to fresh. many flowers dry very well and last indefinitely which helps reduce my overall floral waste. most of my dried flowers are processed right here in the studio, often sourced from my little half-acre farm

i had to recreate the beloved galvanized bucket dried flower wall i originally had in my brooklyn studio. my customers really enjoyed it as a hands-on experience. it’s the perfect setup for “build your own dried bouquet” and a great way to display my availability. you can DIY a bouquet for yourself, create an everlasting gift, or I can craft something special for you

there’s also grab-and-go mixed bouquets, single variety bunches like honey drip sorghum (perfect for fall decor), locally grown dried lavender bunches, etc. stop in during open studio hours and let’s twist up something beautiful and crispy! i mean…dried 🍁😃

can’t let the day go by without wishing oriana & josh a very happy one year anniversary! 💘🎊

one of the coolest couples i got to work and collaborate with last year. we worked closely for several months and not a single detail was missed on their wedding day. they wanted a dusty, rusty, terra cotta vibe and that’s exactly what we brought in! i did not want to use any of the terra cotta colored roses you see all over because local flowers are just tooooo damn good around this time…just brainstormed and did some BTS work to get the terra cotta vision across and it turned out beautifully! lots of local flowers, lots of cool plants, lots of end-of-summer fun, lots of awesome people! a perfect day 😎

happy anniversary, you two! sending so much love. enjoy it!

well, i’ll be GD…i never thought i’d use a green chalkboard i picked up for free on at a church daycare in norwood, nj (nice, little town) as a floral backdrop but here we are 😵‍💫🤗 searched high and low for a big, used, green chalkboard to write out offerings and pricing info for walk-in customers and i got one. the green makes for a nice contrast with the punchier blooms so it’s dual function now 💝🍇💝 facebook marketplace is really something else up here!! i catch myself scrolling through that thing like i used to swipe on tinder…gotta seriously stop myself 😂😂

the star of the show is dahlia, of course…especially the ‘jowey winnie’!! all flowers grown in the field except for some leftover shoots i added for a little squiggle action

you know i’m all about that lisi season!! will always be one of my favorite cut flowers! their long stems have multiple shoots and they’re full of gorgeous ruffly, blousy blooms that open up from just a tiny, lil bud. they’re downright amazing and full of frilly fun!

endless colors, endless varieties, endless vase life (really, they last up to two weeks OR MORE!!). i’ve been working with them and gushing over them for years but growing them has been such an amazing, rewarding experience for me! swipe through to see them as tiny, lil babies 🐣 these were the first plants i nervously put into the field. we had to cover them with frost cloth some nights to make sure they survived until the last frost in april…as a new , i was sooo scared they’d die off but they didn’t and WOWZOEZ it was worth it!! 🌸🙃

i grew four varieties this season but definitely adding another row next year. thank you to my wholesale buyers for buying these up…hopefully i’ll get another bloom on these at the end of summer! 💘💐

a highly requested flower farm update! it’s too hot to be outside so i’m having pizza and drinking sweet tea. let’s take a peek at what’s happening 🍕☀️

summer is unofficially here! the real feel temp is 101 degrees. it’s hotter than a iced coffee on the beach in august 😖 some things are about to bloom, other things got a few more weeks, but everything is looking pretty good!!

we moved into our home at the very end of february and i mapped out the field almost immediately. needless to say, things have been moving along very fast! lots of planning, loads of compost, hours of manual work, true crime podcasts, water, sunshine, berry smoothies has brought us here and made all this happen!

this is my first season growing flowers and it has brought me endless joy, minimal disappointments (i’ve loved every part of it!!), and loads of learning opportunities. from mapping out the field, starting seeds indoors, chipping out the walkways, direct sowing heat lovers…it is downright FUN to be able to grow flowers specifically for 🌸

extreeeeemely excited to start harvesting the crops and designing with my very own flowers! can’t wait to share photos!

🎉👏WAHOO!!👏🎉

i signed a lease to a cute space and my small business adventures continue up in the ! super excited for this new edition of ‘field trip flowers’ to come to life and get back into the swing of designing in a functional space again!

so, the work begins…i’ll be spending the next few weeks doing renovations and turning this outdated gem into our floral studio. i’m gonna keep some sweet touches like the exposed brick wall, , and built in shelves but, for the most part, it’s getting a full …functional floral studio style. 😁 eventually, i’ll have a little retail space which will hold all things and sweet gifts that make me smile 🌸 stay tuned!

backstory: i was originally going to have a workspace on our property but, you know, it’s really not for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ i’ve had two commercial spaces in spanning almost ten years so i’ve grown to love and really know the ups and downs of having a “brick & mortar”. it’s a ton of responsibility but having a space has left me with sooo many memories, connections, lessons learned, failures, accomplishments, opportunities, etc. i’m ready for all of that again! when texted me about this opportunity, i was quick to take a peek and sat with the decision for a few days. ultimately, i knew it was the right move for me and the biz and it all made sense!

of course my bff had to come through and give me the hype talk and my daughter had to check out her future workplace 🤣 jk! we can’t wait to get moving on this project and to officially serve the region!

spring is definitely coming to an end…the days are getting consistently warmer and longer. so long to ranunculus as we welcome all the summer-loving annuals over the next few weeks.

very, very excited to get moving into summer as most of my field flowers are heat lovers! because we moved in february, i didn’t get to plant an abundance of cool flowers but i plan to for next year. it has definitely been a long few months of seeding, watching, planting out and waiting to see movement in my field but it is happening. i just pinched my zinnia and i’ll be snipping my dahlia this week.

i also got some BIG news to share with all my friends and flower lovers in the hudson valley/orange county area! field trip flowers 2.0 coming real soon. stay tuned 😬💃🔑💕
