This is a 2 day, family and dog friendly event! September 16th and 17th - 10am - 3pm

ALL FRIENDLY DOGS WELCOME! Retractable leashes will NOT be allowed into the fairgrounds, for everyone’s safety. Standard leashes are available to borrow during the event if needed. Thank you for your cooperation. Our beer and wine tent will be open from12-4 on Saturday and 12-3 on Sunday, featuring all CT breweries and wineries! Tickets are $10 each, and good for 2 flights or 2 full pours. Valid ID required to purchase tickets. Lure course tickets are $5 per dog. Visit homewardboundct.org for more information! All proceeds benefit Homeward Bound CT, a 501(c)3 organization. Our mission is to help shelters and rescues find homes for their dogs, as well as spay and neuter as many dogs as we can to reduce the number that are euthanized in shelters every single day.

A few things to think of as we head into Halloween:

🔶 IF YOU HAVE AN ANXIOUS DOG: We strongly recommend confining your dog to their own safe haven for the evening (like a crate in a separate room). It can help calm their nerves and prevent them from running out the constantly opening front door.

🔶 CONSIDER LEAVING THEM HOME: Strange clothes and masks can be very frightening to any dog, let alone an anxious one, be sure your dog is wearing identification tags with your contact info in case they get loose.

🔶 KEEP CANDY OUT OF REACH: We all know that chocolate is toxic to dogs, consumption of even small amounts can cause seizures, muscle tremors and vomiting, while larger doses can be fatal. Hard and gummy candies can be choking hazards, as well as the packaging they come in, and many sugar substitutes are lethal to dogs.

We are almost 1 month away from the amazing - stupendous - awesome - fantasmic - 10th Annual Chester Dog Fair!

We still have plenty of Vendor Space by the way so feel free to join us and share your products with all of the dog lovers.

Music is lined up and we even have some amazing breweries, vineyards with Beer, Wine, Cider and even Mead this year.

We are very very short on volunteers though. It's a pretty big event and we truly need all hands on deck. Please consider helping us out one day and maybe coming with your pooch the next.

So many things going on.

Conn-Ducky Derby - May 4th Chester, CT

Adoption Event - May 17th-May 19th - Durham Fair grounds.

You know what? All the information for all of these events is at www.homewardct.org.

I mean you can buy a duck! Register for the Chester Dog Walk! and fill out an application to adopt a dog!

WHAT? I know pretty simple.

Prizes for the Conn-Ducky Derby include amazing gift certificates for local Chester Merchants. Village Bistro, Marker 37, BlackKat Leather (to die for), Honeycone Craft Ice Cream, The Lark in Chester, Connecticut River Wine & Spirits, Reboot Eco, Norma Terris Theater.... I'm pretty sure there will be a few more.

So for 5 bucks you could win some amazing prizes and the best part is you are supporting Homeward Bound CTd Bound CT and The Rotary Club of Chester, CT and the amazing organizations they support.

Did I mention that the streets are closed and there are lots of fun activities to do?

Now for the Chester Dog Walk! Well just think.. How many times have you said to yourself, Gosh I wish I had other dog walkers to walk with? Here's your chance and again it supports Homeward Bound CT and some pretty amazing Old Saybrook High School kids. Walk the streets of Chester - end up at the Chester Meeting House Green and do some fun activities with your dogs.... Puppy Picasso - Dog Bubbles - Face Painting (not for the dogs) - Puppy Manners - Buy dog treats - cool collars and leashes and more... oops I forgot - the first 50 dogs that sign up get some cool swag!

Last but far from least .... What Homeward Bound is all about. Yes all the funds above are for our Spay It Forward Program and it's been hopping for sure but we also want these dogs and so many more to find their forever home. May 17th - 19th we will have 25-40 dogs coming to find their forever home at the Durham Fair Grounds. Dogs are being listed so you can see who's coming. There could always be a surprise pooch.

Our Story

It’s the 6th year! This year’s Chester Dog Fair fair will be held on September 19th. We are looking for businesses and individuals that have a love for animals, the arts, and an active, healthy lifestyle.

As a sponsor, you will be part of an event that’s designed to raise awareness for local and regional services to help families with their canines, while also helping rescue dogs. Your company or business will receive recognition across the state for your commitment to aid in our mission. Sponsors will also be acknowledged via advertisements, website, local newspaper, etc., as trusted and recommended experts in their industry, and will also gain recognition through the community for their generous sponsorship.

Fair festivities are designed for dog lovers to shop for both pet and non-pet related items. We also have food trucks, live music, dog demonstrations and activities which fair goers and their dogs can participate in. Families can learn about local pet related services, consult with a local Veterinarian, Groomer, Pet Sitter, Therapy Pet Partner Team and Trainer. Some of our dog activities available will be the Canine Good Citizen testing, scent work, handling skills, trick training, “Doggie Olympics”, and our ever popular lure course.

Local non-profit organizations are welcome to come and spread the word of what they do. There is no fee for non-profits to participate, but we do ask for a donation to our raffle.
