We are sorry to announce that Tolgy Wood: Chesterfield Camp is once again closed to the public. We are sorry that so many people have a problem following simple rules and having simple human decency, especially when enjoying someone else's private property for free. A no trespassing order is now in effect for the entire property. Even if a Tolgy Wood staff member has given you permission to use the property in the past, that permission is now revoked. We are now open to paying customers only. Thank you.

Hi all! Meet one of the owners of the camp (Angela) and follow her foraging and renovation adventures at Tolgy Wood! Eventually, this will be a story-telling platform, but for now, we thought it would be interesting to display some of the wonders and fancies the camp has to offer! Enjoy!

Welcome to Tolgy Wood Tales- a place to find out about the stories and goings on of the friends and stewards of Tolgy Wood: Chesterfield Camp!

We are pleased to announce that Tolgy Wood: Chesterfield Camp is once again open to the public while there are no private events on the property.

When such events happen, we will post it on this page, so please check here before coming. We will also try to put up signs at all camp entrances to let the public know when there is an event, but in the heat of preparing for such events it may be difficult to do that, so please also first check the main camp entrance at 22 Sugar Hill Road and the camp parking lot at 32 Sugar Hill Road. If you see more than just a few cars in either location, it likely means an event is happening.

Please be aware that, by entering the camp property, you are agreeing to the following rules:

-No motorized vehicles (including boats) are allowed for recreation purposes (by order of the State Department of Fisheries and Wildlife). Manual and wind-powered boats are welcome on the lake, and you may use your vehicle to drive your boat closer to the waterfront, but be aware that we cannot guarantee the conditions of the roadways to access the lake. You might get stuck and we cannot pull you out. Absolutely no driving onto the berm of the dam. Vehicles must be kept at least 250 feet from the dam spillway.

-Do not block any gateway, roadway, or trail with your vehicle, and park them at least 250 feet from any building with the exception of the 4 buildings at the camp entrance at 22 Sugar Hill Road. In that location, you may park on the edge of the pavement - out of the way of other vehicles driving through.

-Mountain bikes are permitted on camp trails, but please be considerate. As of now, there are no horses allowed on the property.

-Fishing is permitted in the lake, including ice fishing, but proper state licensing is required and all state laws regarding fishing must be observed.

-No hunting is permitted on the property.

-No camping is permitted without renting a cabin or camping spot. Please email [email protected] to reserve a space. The public is to stay clear of any private camping area.

-No buildings may be entered by the public except for the pit latrines. We will try to keep toilet paper available in all latrines. We put it inside of coffee cans so the mice can't get to it. Please return it to the can we done and make sure it is sealed.

-No living plants may be killed or damaged. Deadfall may be removed if you wish to take some home with you.

-Foraging and berry-picking is permitted with the exception of mushrooms. Please be reasonable about the amount that you take.

-Use of the camp's high and low ropes courses is NOT permitted.

-No driving in wet or muddy areas. If you leave ruts, please do your best to repair them before you leave.

-No trash may be left anywhere in the camp. Not in the latrines and not in the camp dumpster.

-Please carry out all animal waste with you, or at least move it into a thicket where it is not possible for someone to step in it.

-Apologies, but purebred pit bulls are not permitted on the property, and other breeds may be added to this list in the future. We know that many people have a deep belief that the breed does not matter to a dog's temperament, but our experience has shown otherwise and this is our private property. Any dog that can be aggressive for any reason is to be kept on a leash.

-No items that you bring in may be left on camp property, even if an item is something that you believe we would want you to leave. We do not accept them. Please remove everything you bring in with you.

-Based on many recent experiences, the camp manager and his wife very much believe that people can have actual split-personalities, and that one of a person's personalities can be demonic while the other personality is completely unaware that the other personality is there at all. We are not asking anyone else to believe this, but we believe these demonic entities must act in accordance with contract law, and therefore they need to be aware that, while their hosts may enter the property, no negative energy entity is allowed to be here in any form. Tolgy Wood is now a place of God, and anyone that has a problem with that is precisely the type of person who is not welcome here.

-Camp use is at your own risk! We are not liable for anything that might happen to you or your personal property while you are here.

Other items may be added to this list in the future, but that is all for now.

Thank you and enjoy our beautiful property!

-Tolgy Wood Staff

New England’s Newest LARP Camp

Tolgy Wood: Chesterfield Camp is the result of 4+ years of dedicated work and perseverance. It features almost 200 acres of beautiful rolling land, a pristine lake, waterfall, bridges, meandering trails, a full commercial kitchen, dining hall, tavern building, 8 cabins (5 of which have running water 3-seasons out of the year), a natural lake-side amphitheater, and many beautiful campsites, some of which include lean-to adirondack shelters. We are looking forward to welcoming LARPs from around New England and beyond to be a part of our dedicated LARP camp. However, we will also offer our beautiful venue as a place for other events as well. Email us and let us know how you would like to be a part of this amazing new place. Welcome, to Tolgy Wood!
