As leaders and women, society often tells us that we must constantly be in a state of hustle and grind. The mentality of pushing ourselves to the limit, always striving for more, can be overwhelming. However, over the past few days, I have come to a powerful realization: it is okay to have lighter periods in our schedules. It is okay to give ourselves grace, to embrace the stillness, and to cherish the slower seasons of life. In a world that glorifies busyness, it can feel uncomfortable and even guilt-inducing to slow down.

Darra is one of theFocus Fairies Mentoring co-founder, Darryca Brim, was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health from Northern Illinois University, Master’s Degree in Business Administration and currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree at Governor State University. She has worked directly within the nonprofit community for over seven years. Darryca’s ultimate mission is to continue being a positive influence among young black adolescent girls as women. She has a fiery passion for community engagement, youth development, and self-empowerment. The same passion that fuels her desire to be an advocate for underrepresented communities has catapulted her into a well-respected and admirable leader within various communities in the Chicagoland area.
