What a great night for an outdoor double feature! The #MillenniumPark Summer Film Series presented by Pluto TV kicked off last night with a Steven Speilberg combo of E.T. and Jurassic Park — complete with dinosaur photo opps and a fossil display from Field Museum! Starting now, #MillenniumPark can look VERY different depending on where you’re looking! 😉 Alongside Mayor Brandon Johnson, DCASE and the Millennium Park Foundation, we’re excited to unveil new temporary public art installations coming to Millennium Park during its milestone 20th Anniversary season, including physical works by one of the world’s most recognized sculptors, Franz West, and innovative augmented reality works by Chicago-based artists Claire Ashley, Faheem Majeed, Yvette Mayorga and Carlos Rolón. The augmented reality works are on view throughout the Park now through November 2025. West’s sculptures will be on view in the South Boeing Gallery starting the week of July 22 through November 2025. “Augmented Chicago: Inaugural Realities” pioneers the use of Augmented Reality (AR) for the first time in the vibrant setting of Millennium Park. This exhibition invites visitors to experience a groundbreaking fusion of technology and artistry, transforming the Park's landscape into a dynamic canvas of digital creativity. By highlighting AR as a new tool and medium in the world of public art, these artists explore new dimensions of interaction, engagement, and expression, offering a fresh perspective on the urban environment. Look for instructional signs and bar codes throughout the Park! Viewers of the augmented reality works will use the free Hoverlay app, available in the Apple AppStore or Google PlayStore, as well as an augmented reality-capable device running iOS 14 or later or Android 8.0 or later. The full lineup has just been announced for the FREE #MillenniumPark 20th Anniversary Celebration presented by Capital One on July 18-21! 🔗 www.MillenniumPark.org Highlights include the popular salsa group from Colombia Fruko y Sus Tesos with special guest Sonora Dinamita featuring Alfredo de la Fe, along with Chuwi and Codigo as part of the ¡Súbelo! presentation on Thursday, July 18. Grant Park Orchestra delights on Friday, July 19 with favorites from John Williams, including Star Wars, Indiana Jones, E.T., and more. On Saturday, July 20 attendees can enjoy family programming throughout the day including Chicago Physical Theater Festival and a roving performance by Los Pleneros de Don Segundo, a special 20th birthday celebration hosted by Eli’s Cheesecake at Cloud Gate, and the highly anticipated performance by Common with the Grant Park Orchestra in the evening, culminating with a fireworks display. The festivities conclude on Sunday, July 21 with more family programming featuring The Golden Horse Ranch Band and more followed by an all-star lineup showcasing a diverse array of House Music, including Chicago’s own Steve "Silk" Hurley—who performed at Millennium Park’s opening in 2004—along with CeCe Pen*ston, Robin S., Ann Nesby, Syleena Johnson, Chantay Savage, Keith Nunnally, Sharon Pass, and B. Lauren. Hosted by Shannon “Skip” Syas of S&S Chicago, Inc. Seating bowl tickets to the July 20 performance of Common with the Grant Park Orchestra can be reserved online on June 17 at 10am while supplies last — seating on the Great Lawn for this performance is open to the public without need of reservation.

Grab your picnic supplies. The lineup for 2024 #MillenniumPark Summer Film Series presented by Pluto TV is out and it's FREE to attend! Announced by DCASE and the Chicago Film Office and taking place on Tuesdays starting July 16, films are shown on a 40-foot LED screen from the Pritzker stage with guests in the seating bowl or on the Great Lawn. Films begin at 6:30 p.m. (with the exception of the July 16 double-feature starting at 6 p.m.). Ayodele Drum and Dance
