Happy First Anniversary! 🥂

We are sending a HUGE Happy First Anniversary to our couple Kathleen and Gabrielle! They were truly a joy to work with and appreciated all of my suggestions for thier special day. They also were so gracious and patient with me while I navigated one of my most difficult personal journeys last year. They wanted a party that "just happened" to be a wedding and they got just that and so much more! A time was had by all and I'm sure their guests enjoyed the experience that K+G tailor-made for them.

Set Your Tone 💌✨

What is the purpose of an invitation? Yes. it sets the tone for the event (I know, I know… 🫠 I’ve been saying that for a while now) BUT it also serves a deeper purpose.

A proper invitation will inform your guests the WHAT, the WHERE and the WHEN of your event. It shares all the important details for the events that surround your special day. The details including date, time, location and additional information that is important to share with your guests.

M+J’s full invitation suite had:
✉️The primary wedding invitation with the date and location of the event
✉️ Information for a welcome party hosted by the couple
✉️Additional detail card with a QR code for guests to RSVP to the event they are invited to.

Today we spent some time volunteering with one of our favorite non-profit organizations for their 5th Annual Teen Self-Care Workshop!

This 501c-3 organization’s mission is to inspire, support, encourage, and help develop youth to fulfill their life goals after they have suffered the tremendous loss of a parent. This self care workshop provides a base level of mental health support in providing self-care tools, tips and fun activities to help teens thrive in today’s world.

I’m so thankful to be able to give back to a meaningful organization that is actively changing the world one child at a time. Thank you again to Make Momma Proud for allowing me to be apart of your workshop today! 🌱🪴🫶🏾

Summertime Chi! ✨

Summer in Chicago (also affectionately known as "Summertime Chi") is in full swing! This weeks' Throwback Thursday of course goes to these two amazing humans H + A.

When Hannah and Alan told me they wanted to do their "first look" at North Avenue Beach, I was EXTREMELY nervous! Chicago weather is as fickle as a moody teen or teething toddler. Its like a box of chocolates! You never know what you are going to get!

Thankfully, God and Mother Nature were working hard on this day, and was able to capture this beautiful moment with the city skyline as the perfect backdrop, while the blooms from added the perfect amount of romance to these shots. And of course Hannah's gorgeous caped gown caught the wind adding more beauty to the moment.

GLAM YOUR SPACE! ✨

When I first went to see the space, I knew whatever I designed had to fit in the space, but not take away from it.

I always look at what is existing in any space and try to design with that in mind. I’m always thinking, “how can I make this look elevated?” Honestly, the vision didn’t vision until I created this beautiful centerpiece while at the venue. I knew I wanted almost an “ombré” effect, but I didn’t know it would turn out this good!!!

Happy Birthday Zeke!!

The one thing my godson told me for his birthday party last year was he wanted a massive sweets table. Knowing he LOVES sweets (this man will eat a slice of cake before eating real food) so I wanted to make sure we went big!

Of course it would be framed by the dope cake created by . I told her the theme and she ran with it and created the art piece you see here.

From the chopsticks to the Asian take out containers we wanted this day to have an Anime theme with a nod to Asian culture. Zeke even wore a mandarin collar shirt with his suit. I really enjoyed designing this special day for him. ❤️🖤

Wow what a day! 😍

We had such a blast yesterday at Mike and Adam’s wedding! A beautiful day was had by all and we enjoyed executing the vision that the couple had for their special day.

Using as wedding decor was such a cute idea and we loved incorporating the disco balls that the couple brought and sprinkling some of our magic 🪄 on the event.

M E T G A L A

It’s the first Monday in May!! 😍

Today is the Met Gala, which is the Fashion Institute’s annual fundraising gala that launches the next fashion exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. This is literally where fashion and art collides into a showcase like no other. This is the Olympics of Fashion where top and new designers can showcase their works on art on muses such as Rihanna, Jeremy Pope and Zendaya.

My love for fashion is always rekindled on the first Monday in May. It’s always a joy to see the creativity in the garments and what people decide to wear in response to the theme. This years theme is “A Garden in Time” and I know there will be tons of florals on the runway. Groundbreaking 😂 (IYKYK)

Tears of JOY!

My favorite part about any wedding day is always the ceremony, but M + J's ceremony was a beautiful expression of love, faith, happiness, pride and joy! The sweetest moments that captured was the wiping of the tears from BOTH Grooms! There wasn't a dry eye in the building that day, and this one is worthy of my post.

And yes, I was in the back crying too! I'm a hopeless romantic and I love love! The journey to get to the end of the aisle is often a rough one, but when you get there it is the best place to be with the one you love!

Ten years ago I took a leap of faith and decided to something that I always wanted to do! If you would told me that 10 years later I would own my own Event planning company (FRWD Style 💙✨) and that I would be creating experiences for guests to remember on my own I would have laughed at you dead in the face. It’s so crazy that often we don’t think stuff is supposed to take time. I’m still learning, still growing, but I’ve come a long way. And if no one else is proud of me I can confidently say I’m proud of myself!!! Here’s to another 10 more years of Celebrations with Story! 🥂🙌🏾🙏🏾

“Boy we had a time last night…WE HAD A TIME LAST NIGHT!”

Jermell and Bills Big day was one for the books! We laughed and cried, and just had a wonderful day filled with so much joy and love. Mother Nature let Spring go on PTO, but didn’t prepare the others 🫠, but that didn’t stop no show! Our hands and feet may have been cold but are hearts were warm with the love shared between J&B.

F I R S T A N N I V E R S A R Y

A year ago we got the opportunity to celebrate Hannah and Alan’s beautiful wedding. The weather held up for this lovely couple to take some amazing photos at the North Ave Beach before the fun began at Lacuna Lofts!

It was definitely a day to remember! I loved being apart of their magical day, and I will always cherish this wedding as one of my favorites!!

D I N E R E N B L A N C

Chile! We had a TIME at Diner en Blanc - Chicago on Thursday! It went by in a blur. 😵‍💫I didn’t even get a chance to take pictures of my tablescape this time so I set it back up in the backyard for you all to see!

I really wanted to challenge myself and do something that would stand out, give us more room on the table, but be lean enough to transport to wherever the secret location would be. I saw this image of a white tropical arch and thought “I could do something like that for Diner en Blanc!”

I was super happy with the final result even though we had to take it down before we started to explore other areas of the final location.

Major shoutout to my friends who allow me to be extra and trust me when it comes to events like this!
