While little architecture is left from the 500 years of Moorish rule in Seville, a distinct handicraft heritage was passed down through the generations, evolving into the Mudejar styles seen today. At Hotel Alfonso XIII, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Seville, this history is on full display. Gwen Lux, our muse, was a sculptor, designer, lecturer, writer, and teacher, and her creative passion is in everything we do. Gwen Lux had an unflinching eye for beauty and truth. In this celebration of contrast, you will find nods to her work and her enigmatic spirit throughout the property, including photos of her in studio, her zodiac print recreated above each headboard in rooms and suites, her sculptures typically constructed from polyester, resin, concrete, and metals, as well as the hand-carved zodiac-themed limestone panels on our building’s facade and in that inspire the big, bold tone that sets the stage for every visit and any adventure.
