This past fall, we had the honor of participating in ’s 3rd annual “Dream Chicago” gala as the premier restaurant partner. Hosted in Millennium Park, the event featured tasty bites from an array of Chicago’s top restaurants, including a few of our own - GT Prime, Swift & Son’s, Alla Vita, Duck Duck Goat, Momotaro and Itoko. Thanks to everyone who attended, St. Jude was able to raise nearly 2 million dollars to support their life saving mission continuing to help children with cancer, here in Chicago and around the world.

As we bid farewell to 2023, our team is looking back fondly on some standout events from the past year. One of course being La Vida Boka—our signature events and hospitality showcase-presented in collaboration with our talented friends , hosted at . Meet Eric! ✨⁠

He's a Sous Chef at , and has been a part of the catering team since the fall of 2022.⁠
⁠
Eric says that since the moment his 4-year-old hands could reach over the counter and steal bites of snickerdoodle dough, he knew he wanted to be a chef. After attending culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu, he's worked in french bistros, oyster bars in the U.K, fabulous restaurants in Chicago, and several catering companies.⁠

His advice to anyone interested in pursuing a career in the hospitality industry is, "ask yourself if you are empathetic, confident, and open minded. As chefs, we have the unique opportunity to work with people from all walks of life. Empathy will bring you closer to your team, confidence will garner respect, and a beginner's mindset will help your career grow and evolve."⁠

One of his favorite dishes he's created and catered was macadamia-crusted Hawaiian pink snapper with red rice, shish*tos, pickled figs and shiso. Simple, fun, and dynamic! ⁠

On his days off, Eric can be found in one of three places: on his patio tending to his planters, at Seafood City buying the entire produce section, or at the dog park wrangling his crazy, lovable pitbull, Zoi.
