We are the leadership and staff of arts organizations, individual artists and arts patrons who have joined together to support the growth of the Black Arts community in and around Chicago. When you join us, you'll network with colleagues and peers at special events and exciting arts activities while becoming more involved in the cultural movement taking place in Chicago. Membe

Active influence and participation in Alliance productions, including Black Arts Month, our annual Fall festival promoting our talented members.

Resources and information, such as practical insight on grant deadlines, job availability and so much more! Membership Tier:

Organization Member ($150)
For organizations that promote or produce Black artistic expression in any arts discipline, including but not limited to performance, visual art, literary art and design. To qualify for membership, organizations must be located in Illinois or provide a forum for Black artistic expression in the Chicago area for a significant portion of the year. Member organizations are also required to attend one annual membership meeting. Individual Artist ($35)
To qualify, persons must currently practice activity as an artist or be a student of the arts in the Chicago area. Patron ($35)
To qualify, persons must be an advocate for, and supporter of, Black artistic expression in the Chicago area. Patrons are afforded the same benefits and privileges of an Individual Artist membership excepting the right to vote. Students/Seniors ($25)
To qualify, persons must be students and/or senior citizens, and must be an advocate for, and supporter of, Black artistic expression in the Chicago area.

As of December 1, 2024, the Black Arts & Culture Alliance of Chicago (BACA) is entering a new phase of leadership, including welcoming Luther Goins as our Interim Executive Director. Vershawn Sanders-Ward and Charlique Rolle will transition from the Board of Directors, and we extend our deepest gratitude for their leadership, vision, and dedication to BACA’s mission. We are also pleased to announce Jackie Taylor as our new Board President. Jackie’s commitment to the Alliance and her extensive experience in the arts and culture community will help guide BACA to new heights. Come for the conversation, stay for the Steppin' class! Join us on Monday, October 21st, for a diverse artistic experience. We'll be exploring how artists and media personalities from Chicago navigate the artistic scene and the challenges they face in holding true to their artistic integrity. The evening is hosted by Sydney Chatman, a 20-year theater teacher who uses her medium to conjure hope, justice, freedom, and joy. The night will feature the insights of multifaceted artist, educator, and arts advocate D’onminique Ndosi Mapula Riley and Max Sansing, a prolific South Side muralist who actively supports youth arts programs. Enjoy a steppin' class by Michael Allen, a dance teacher who fosters self-discovery and growth, and has competed in the World's Largest Steppin' Competition. Come out, enjoy, and stay connected!
