This month celebrates 10 years of the Fred and Pamela Buffett Place, a supportive housing residence in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood.
First opening its doors to new residents in February of 2014, the Fred and Pamela Buffett Place is an innovative example of public and private partnership to create affordable housing that is a true community asset.
A winner of several prestigious design awards, Buffett Place provides supportive housing for very low-income people with disabilities, many of whom are at risk of homelessness. Thresholds provides comprehensive on-site services including housing, supported employment, case management, linkage to primary healthcare, mental health services, and substance use treatment. Amenities include a green rooftop, courtyard garden, common lounge spaces, on-site laundry, and fitness room.
This project was the result of a partnership between Brinshore Development LLC and Thresholds, with support from the City of Chicago. Many public spaces and residential units are named in honor of generous private donors who supported making the vision of Buffett Place a reality.
