Our Story
The Chop Shop is a butcher and deli, bar and restaurant, as well as a state-of-the-art venue. Our event space is 6,000 square feet and hosts concerts, charity, corporate, culinary and art events. Located just west of Damen and Milwaukee on North Avenue, these three concepts bring together some of Chicago’s favorite things: encased meat, cocktails and live entertainment. Housed in a 100-year-old former auto body shop, the Chop Shop's butcher and deli showcases the daily meats, chops, sausages, and antipastos available for pick up. Adjacent to the deli counter, a glass window allows guests to watch the butchers at work while they converse with the knowledgeable team on the best cuts for their home cooking. For those looking for a bite, Chop Shop offers an array of fresh sandwiches and salads to enjoy in-house or to go. Our menu sources seasonal fare from local farms and the in-house butcher. Menu standouts include starters like the Signature Charcuterie Plate (select meats and cheeses with crusty bread and homemade jams), Wilted Kale Salad (shaved mushrooms, soft cooked egg, balsamic vinaigrette and Parmesan cheese). Entrees include the award-winning Butcher’s Burger (Butcher’s blend of ground prime cuts, grilled with aged cheddar, charred red onions, smoked bacon and CS sauce, served with fries) and affordable chops and steaks. What truly sets the Chop Shop apart is its accessibility to great cuts of meat, allowing the restaurant to offer diners steaks and chops at an affordable price. Catering trays are available as well as private party space rentals. Seating for dinner is available in the oversized booths and bar on the first floor known as the "Butcher's Bar" with bar bites and specials, or head upstairs to the "Butcher's Brother" for a more intimate dining experience. Adjacent to the dining room is a secret garden-style 60-seat patio. Enclosed by four walls and the blue Chicago sky above, it’s the perfect al fresco setting for drinks or dinner. Brunch is served every weekend from 11am to 3pm. Reservations are accepted for brunch, lunch, and dinner.
The first floor features hi-boy window seating, exposed brick, and oversized dark tufted leather booths with Chop Shop branded wood tables. The 27-seat bar -- equipped with a butcher block bar top and chevron wood backsplash -- also has four flat-screen TVs and 18 beers on tap. Be sure to try our signature cocktails like the CS Old Fashioned (Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Smoked Demerara, and your choice of bitters) or our Orange Soda (Zubrowka Bison Grass Vodka, Stirrings Triple Sec, Pineapple Juice, Orange Juice, Lemon Juice, Fee Bros Orange Bitters, and Orange Cream Soda). Custom swivel doors in the back of the Butcher’s Bar allow a peek into the event space -- the swivel functionality can open the entire first floor to be used as part of the event space as well. Designed by event professionals, for event professionals -- this 5,500 square foot, fully customizable event space can be tailored to meet any client’s individual needs.
The space features 20 foot ceilings, exposed brick, and built-in amenities including a state-of-the-art audio and visuals, modular staging, a modern guest suite, and a professional on-site production team. From first inspection, clients are treated to five-star customer service, including on-site consultations with some of the industry’s most well versed professionals. The in-house team will utilize its extensive network and long-held relationships with top-tier providers to produce events that deliver the highest quality ex*****on, ensuring that each event is as unique and unforgettable as the property itself.
