This event is one of the top celebrations for Black Entrepreneurs, attracting over 1,000 businesses annually. The event features a Black Restaurant Showcase, Young Entrepreneur Contest, an Awards Gala and the LEGACY POWER Conference with keynote speaker Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins.

2023 Breakfast with Santa/Toy Giveaway For The Children Of Altgeld Gardens

The festive season has started and Christmas is less than 30 days away. I am writing to you on behalf of my organization Outside The Box Catering & Events Inc. We are excited to announce our 2023 toy drive, aimed at bringing joy to underprivileged children of my childhood community Altgeld Gardens this holiday season.

This year OTB is collaborating with my graduating class of Carver Military Academy High School c/o 2002 to host our First Annual Breakfast with Santa/Toy Giveaway on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Carver Park District 939 E 132nd St, Chicago, IL 60827. Our goal is to provide over 500 toys to the children of Altgeld Gardens along with a Catered Hot Breakfast and Photo with Santa.

On October 21, 2023, the Carver Class of 2002 hosted their first Annual coat drive for the children of Altgeld, at Carver Park District. We were able to donate over 100 coats to children in need. Now I am reaching out to my extended friends, colleagues, and business partners of Outside the Box Catering and Events Inc. to help donate more to continue the impact we are making in the Altgeld Gardens community.

As a former resident of Altgeld Gardens, I have a deep understanding of the struggles of growing up in an underprivileged community. Many privileges I didn’t know even existed until I became an adult and went to work in other communities. In one of my first jobs as a waitress for Maggiano’s in Oakbrook, I witnessed the joys of the children of Oakbrook attending their annual Breakfast with Santa. I remember thinking to myself wow, why didn’t I experience this growing up? One day I’m going to host an event like this for my community. So here I am 12 years later the owner of Outside the Box Catering and Events Inc. collaborating with my former classmates to bring this beautiful experience to my childhood community.
