Whether it’s a memorial table of photos, special seats at the ceremony, or carrying a small token on the wedding day, acknowledging passed love ones that are “joining from afar” is a touching way to personalize your day, and keep those love ones close to you on your special day.

One of the highlights of my year last year was working with this lovely couple! Like so many other couples , Ashley and Kendall’s wedding plans were impacted by the Pandemic, causing them to postpone their wedding 2022. The silver lining is that I got to work with them over the course of two years, helping them with their micro-wedding in 2021, their dream reception last year, and see them become a family of three in the meantime 😊 Read all about my planning journey with Ashley and Kendall in my first official blog post on the new site (link in the bio)!

With the number of weddings and events I’ve worked on, it’s very rare and very special to be able to be apart of someone’s wedding. One of the highlights of my summer was being able stand by my best friend’s side as her Maid of Honor. .gif this day, and seeing you look so happy and GORGEOUS continues to live rent free in my mind and If I was a crazy person I’d have more pictures from your wedding hanging in my living room than you do 🤣 ❤️

Hi!! I’m Alyson and I’m the owner of Birdcage and Blushers Weddings! It’s so weird even saying that aloud, but I’m excited to be here (officially)! Though B&B Weddings is new, I’ve been planning wedding and events since 2013! Born in raised in Chicago, I got my start in catering and venue sales (shout out to Germanía Place). It was there how I learned how to genuinely connect with couples while helping them navigate one of the most important events in their lives, and I learned so much about all the details and logistics that goes into event catering and all of the amazing people that make it happen. So much growth and learning happened in those two years. Afterwards, I brought my sales and event experience into the world of hotels! I spent the next 4 years managing a wide variety of corporate events and weddings. During that time, there were so many loving and supportive friends and colleagues telling me that I should do it on my own and start my own planning business. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hesitant, and the timing was never quite right. Then the stars aligned in 2020 and I planned my first wedding as an independent planner. That laid the foundation for Birdcage and Blushers to be what it is today. I Iove love and I love weddings! The best part is being able to bond with the couples I work with as we work together to plan the day of their dreams. And there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing them on the day, happy and sharing their love with the world.

What started out as a cute little blog has officially transformed into a budding small wedding planning business! I’m super excited to announce the relaunch of Birdcage and Blushers! It’s been years in the making: lots of doubts and hesitation but also excitement, and the love, encouragement and support of my friends and peers. Couldn’t have done it without y’all! I’m so excited to see how it grows and I hope you’ll spread the word to any couples you know that are planning on trying the knot!
