Durham High School Floral
We have turned the old metal shop at DHS into an active Floral Department! In the multiple periods of floral teaching, students will learn how to make many different styles of arrangements, corsages, boutonnieres, wedding flowers, greenhouse production of flowers and houseplants and they have the opportunity to fulfil their high school art credit! This is a very hands-on class that produces a skill students can take with them after high school, making it into a career or even part time job while they pursue what’s next in their lives.

Some people ask what we do during our off-season. As a garden venue, we are constantly reminded that Mother Nature does not rest.

I spent half of Saturday and Sunday morning pruning one tree. Our fig tree! And it's not even a part of the venue! After a heavy pruning on Saturday, this old gal surprised me on Sunday morning with lots of tiny sprouts.
