Hi, I’m Ashley, the owner of North State Events! I’m passionate about event planning and love bringing people together for some of life’s biggest moments. My motto is “be a guest at your own event”—I believe the host should enjoy every part of the celebration, just like the guests do.

When I’m not planning events, you’ll find me being a busy mom to my three daughters—10, 8, and 5. They are my world! I love taking my boat out on the lake whenever I can, and when it comes to food, you’ll catch me enjoying a good steak, sushi, or Chipotle. Blue is my favorite color, and health and wellness are super important to me, so I prioritize exercise and staying active.

I feel incredibly blessed that my business is thriving, and I’m beyond grateful for all the strong, incredible women on my team who bring my vision to life every day. This past fall, we had the honor of celebrating Ramit & Jasjeet’s 25th wedding anniversary at the breathtaking Great Bear Vineyards in Davis, and what a night it was!⁣
⁣
Surrounded by their family and closest friends, the evening was a perfect blend of love, laughter, and celebration. From a delicious farm-to-table dinner to a heartwarming slideshow that captured 25 years of memories, every detail was thoughtfully planned. Their twin daughters stole the show with a fun trivia game that had everyone laughing and reminiscing, while the first dances and heartfelt toasts left not a dry eye in the room.⁣
⁣
The night ended in the best way possible—with everyone on their feet, dancing the night away under the stars, celebrating the incredible bond Ramit and Jasjeet have shared for a quarter of a century.⁣

To say I’m excited for these two is an understatement! ⁣

I met Olivia surprisingly while nursing my third kiddo, Charlotte at In Motion Kids Club 6 years ago and would sit in the nursery rocking chair and would chat with her. Shortly after I realized she lived around the corner from us, I asked if she’d be willing to babysit. She then babysat our kids for several years while she was going to school for the nursing program and even accompanied us on a trip to Hawaii. During Covid she also was my kids learning pod teacher too. ⁣
⁣
We then said, farewell to the babysitting days when she went on her way and became a nurse at Enloe, but still are connected to her family as her little sister Sydney is now our family babysitter as well. I⁣
⁣
just adore this family and when I heard Olivia got engaged a few weeks ago, my heart burst with joy. Her and Colin are the sweetest couple!!! To be asked to be a part of their planning journey and wedding day is a complete honor. ⁣
⁣
Today we met for our first planning meeting and it was super exciting and great conversations were had. I can’t wait for all the fun ahead. Let’s go! 💜💜💜

In a little over 2 months we will have the pleasure of working with at for Ashmi and Umang’s wedding!!! 🎉❤️ 💍.
Ashmi and Umang met online in 2021 and totally hit it off and shortly after that Umang knew he wanted to propose to Ashmi. Umang had it all set up where he was going to propose to Ashmi at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory overlooking the beautiful view of the Berkeley hills but there was a bit of a snag. Umang was concerned that the custom ring he ordered wouldn’t be ready in time and the weather called for fog and misty conditions. By some miracle the ring was finished just in time and the sun started shining right before Umang was set to propose so the photographer was able to capture some beautiful shots, so it all worked out 🥰

engagement for his girlfriend. We talked and a few times and he said “I trust you” and let us do our thing to make it special. He let me in on a few key details of her favorite flowers, dinner wishes, location etc. and I got to work. and I watched the proposal from below the coupla and both had goosebumps and chills while Francisco proposed to his girlfriend. It felt like something out of a movie! 🥰 After they got engaged, they headed down to a private dinner with their families to celebrate. 🥂 It was the perfect afternoon and evening. Welcome to the NSE family Maddy & Calvin! We had their kick off meeting last week and when we asked Maddy what she was most looking forward to on her wedding day, she said “To have fun!”. ⁣

We love that and have no doubt in our mind that we will take away all the stress to ensure that happens! ⁣✨🤍✨
⁣
At NSE we can’t stress the importance of hiring a day of coordinator at the very least!! Think of the process it takes to build a house [Full disclaimer: I don’t build houses, I just make sure flower girls don’t lose their shoes]. You have electricians, plumbers, roofers, architects, painters, framers, the list goes on. While they could all show up to the job site and have a general idea of what’s supposed to happen because they’ve done it before and most houses are generally the same. ⁣
⁣
But still, every house is different enough to make it necessary to have a general contractor who oversees the process and directs each professional on where to go and when. Most importantly, the general contractor is there to show the big picture to everyone – to say “This is the end goal. These are the important pieces in the eyes of the homeowner and this is how we’re going to get there.”⁣
⁣
Now replace the house with all your wedding plans, and the electrician with the DJ, the plumber with the caterer, the painter with the florist, the architect with the venue, the framer with the photographer…and the general contractor with the DOC. ⁣
⁣
See where I’m going with this?!! 🥰 The bottom line for why you should hire a DOC as simple, for every job unfulfilled by professional will be a set of tasks, to do’s and expectations that you, the bride and groom, have to find a solution for. Furthermore, the only time in life that you will spend an amount of money this large will be when you buy a house or when you buy a car. And both those instances, you’ll have a realtor or a salesman walking you through the process from start to finish to ensure all your I’s are dotted and your t’s are crossed. Gosh, we blinked and it’s August tomorrow! Anyone else??

Ceci and Ajs wedding in June was one for the books and deserves a proper post to depict the beauty. NSE Jenn had everything coordinated to the T. Thank you, Jenn!

From the ceremony at St. John’s Baptist to the reception at our favorite downtown venue the day was one word, magical. 🤍

As we near the end of summer, we are gearing up for a very busy Fall. Jenn (NSE’s lead planner and project manager) and I met yesterday to go over all the weddings, events and partnerships on the books and to brush up on our systems we currently have in place. The meeting was productive. I always say things will slow down when we get to “x” month and then we get there and they don’t 😂 I guess it’s a good business “problem” to have! 🥰 We’re forever grateful for anyone that chooses NSE for your event needs. This wedding was perfection from the amazing bride and groom, their family, friends, vendors, the signage, the weather, music, dancing and the food! The list goes on and and you couldn’t have done it better. ⁣
⁣
The outfit change of a party dress and sneaks was also perfection because these two know how to get down on the dance floor and boogie! From the get go they shared with me a top priority was to dance—which always tells me this couple/group is going to be a good time. I was right! 🪩 ⁣

I just love all my friendors (aka the rockstar vendors in Chico) who feel like a second family to me! If you didn’t know, I help organize and run the Nor Cal Event Association group.
