Gosh, we blinked and it’s August tomorrow! Anyone else??
Ceci and Ajs wedding in June was one for the books and deserves a proper post to depict the beauty. NSE Jenn had everything coordinated to the T. Thank you, Jenn!
From the ceremony at St. John’s Baptist to the reception at our favorite downtown venue the day was one word, magical. 🤍
As we near the end of summer, we are gearing up for a very busy Fall. Jenn (NSE’s lead planner and project manager) and I met yesterday to go over all the weddings, events and partnerships on the books and to brush up on our systems we currently have in place. The meeting was productive. I always say things will slow down when we get to “x” month and then we get there and they don’t 😂 I guess it’s a good business “problem” to have! 🥰 We’re forever grateful for anyone that chooses NSE for your event needs. Sneak peak alert from the Law/Stile wedding last month at beautiful
This wedding was perfection from the amazing bride and groom, their family, friends, vendors, the signage, the weather, music, dancing and the food! The list goes on and and you couldn’t have done it better.
The outfit change of a party dress and sneaks was also perfection because these two know how to get down on the dance floor and boogie! From the get go they shared with me a top priority was to dance—which always tells me this couple/group is going to be a good time. I was right! 🪩
Side note-Katies dress 👗was from a sweet high school friends boutique to boot!

Maddi + Tuckers day was a fairytale!! ✨🍾
Everything worked out perfect and went off without a hitch. From the amazing bride and groom, their fun and sweet bridal party, their adoring family and fabulous guests…we were blessed to be surrounded by pure love and joy all day long.
Also, equally as amazing was the vendor team and the day went like clock work because of all the vendors listed below. We just love it when it happens like that! 🥰
Maddi + Tucker, thank you for trusting me with your day. As I always say this is something I don’t take lightly and each wedding I’m apart of I feel truly blessed. Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness and I hope you had the best honeymoon in Kauai!!!

What a tremendous loss for us all as Amber Enos passed away yesterday morning and I’m heartbroken. Amber was beautiful inside and out, a wonderful friend, mom, wife, daughter and sister. Our paths crossed living in two neighborhoods together, our daughters dancing on the same team, many many carpools, endless dance mom group texts, neighborhood parties, photographing my family/NSE and of course working together at weddings and events. If you knew her, you loved her and it’s just not fair that the good ones can leave us so soon. Her beautiful soul will be forever missed. For those of you wanting to help their family during this tragic time, there is a link in my bio to help if you can. I’ll sign off how Amber always signed her emails to me, “Hugs”. 💔

Sneak peaks are in for J + N’s stunning Sacramento church wedding 💒 which was followed by a reception at The Grand Sheraton in downtown. It happened to rain on their wedding day last month. Rain on your wedding day is good luck because it signifies that your marriage will last. As you know, a knot that becomes wet is extremely hard to untie – therefore, when you “tie the knot” on a rainy day, your marriage is supposedly just as hard to unravel! 🪢 ☔️💍 🩵

Level up your engagement game and do yourself a favor and book the dream team for an engagement picnic that is uniquely unforgettable.
Jerrad contacted us a few weeks prior and had the most amazing vision of how he wanted to propose on his lot overlooking the beautiful canyon below to his special lady. It was so sweet all of the details he considered and trusted myself and Mallory at Luxe Picnic to pull off. We weren’t sure if it would rain that day and we watched all week like a hawk. The morning of the proposal it was nothing but blue skies, sunshine and then ended in a spectacular sunset while he proposed. Perfect is an understatement! 🌅

✨ Meet Stepheni & Chase! ✨
This sweet couple first met at the Thursday night market in Chico. Chase was working at Woodstock’s 🍕 at the time and he was delivering a pizza, Stepheni asked him if she could have a slice of pizza and he said “No, but you can have my number” (soooo smooth 😁🔥). He tore off a piece of paper and wrote his number on it and handed it to Stepheni.
When Chase proposed to Stepheni it was on the same corner where they met at the Thursday night market. He handed Stepheni a note, but this time instead of his number it said “Will you marry me?” 😍❤️💍
I can’t even…beyond sweet and hopefully brought a smile to your face! We are SO excited to work with them at their Westport wedding this Fall.

We are back to the office and ready to tackle January and beyond!!!
We are kicking the month off with co-hosting the Nor Cal Event Professionals Association first meeting of the year at Chico's newest venue, The Westport on Wednesday, January 10th at 6pm. For those of you not familiar with this group, its a local networking group of vendors/creatives in the Chico & surrounding areas. We meet once a month to chat about trends, business needs, new vendors etc. and always have a wonderful time.
At this kickoff meeting for the 2024 year, we're hoping to expand and grow our group! Please see the photo for all the deets and make sure to RSVP to me via text, email or comment here if you can make it.

Hi, I’m Ashley Smith Owner and Senior Planner at North State Events! I figured it was time for an introduction or re-introduction to anyone following me for awhile. 🖐🏼
My passion is people and events. Put them both together and I created my dream company North State Events! I feel like I’ve been planning parties my entire life and to now do it as “my job” makes me feel like I never work a day in my life. As we close out the year I couldn’t be more proud of all the people we were blessed to meet and provide services for. Your trust in myself and the NSE team is not taken lightly and we appreciate you and your support!

Random Facts About Me:
❤️I can quote the following movies in my sleep: Christmas Vacation, Heavyweights, What About Bob, and Gone with the Wind
❤️I love long walks and try to walk every single day. 10k+ steps is a must (I’m actually walking on my tread as I write this 😜)
❤️I hate ketchup and mayo but loveee mustard
❤️I love having bacon and toast for breakfast almost everyday
❤️In high school I was voted best most likely to be a talk show host
❤️I can tell 90% of cars make/model (roughly the year too) on the road at night by their taillights at a good distance away
❤️The perfect day for me is a warm day on the boat with good friends and music (on the delta is a plus)
❤️I wake up most days at 4am
❤️Before starting NSE I worked for Chipotle corporate for 14 years and loved slinging burritos. I still eat there 3-4 times a week

One of the sweetest grooms we have had the pleasure to work with, Kevin, waiting for his beautiful bride Sarah during their first look.
Kevin was very present during the wedding planning process and we not only enjoyed getting to know him more, but loved seeing his support for Sarah.
When it comes to wedding planning, it’s often assumed that the bride will take the lead in planning the big day – but this isn’t always the case! Gone are the days when wedding planning was solely the bride’s domain.
As the groom, there are countless ways you can contribute to the planning process! Grooms—a few things you can do to help with the planning process: offer emotional support, help her stay organized, tackle the guest list, express interest (even if you don’t have strong opinions), help hire a wedding dream team, handle the rehearsal dinner, and honeymoon.

I just love all my friendors (aka the rockstar vendors in Chico) who feel like a second family to me! If you didn’t know, I help organize and run the Nor Cal Event Association group.
