No trip to Valle de Guadalupe is complete without breakfast at La Cocina de Doña Esthela.
Last week I got to meet Blanca Esthela Martínez Bueno most commonly known as Doña Esthela. Her story is nothing short of inspiring. She moved to Ensenada about 30 years ago and started making burritos for the construction workers that were building the wineries. The word spread across that her food was something special and that’s how La Cocina de Doña Esthela was born.
Today people wait for hours in order to get a table. She has had important visitors such as Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramsey and was recently awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand.
My favorite dish is the borrego tatemado and the pellizcadas de asientos. But everything I have tried is truly delicious!
El Valle de Guadalupe has so much to offer when it comes to wine and food but if you are in the area don’t forget to pay a visit to Doña Esthela.

I’m excited to announce that I will be doing a pop up this coming Tuesday at on third Ave in downtown Chula Vista from 12-3pm. I will have charcuterie boards as well as chocolate covered strawberries for sale!
