An ode to the boom bap era of the hip-hop cultures musical front. Especially to iconic figures who weve lost during our time here. This makes for a great staple t-shirt. Its made of a thicker, heavier cotton, but its still soft. And the double stitching on the neckline and sleeves add more

A huge thanks to the Beatdown 3000 crew for having me out to document their Rub-A-Dub Mood event featuring OBF Sound, Sr. Wilson, Von D, Kinky P, Beatdown Sound, DJ Toltech and Fadadougou with an amazing sound system by Black Scorpion Sound System. Those kicks, snares, and riding bass lines were intense all throughout the night! Had a blast documenting the night and I'm happy to share the visuals with you all! Been a blessing to teach young individuals the art of DJing at Piotrowski Park - Between working with both Piotrowski Park and the Town of Cicero it feels great to give back to both communities that I grew up in at different points of my life and pay those inspirations that molded me forward to others. I clearly remember being a young teenager and too many people and organizations that would brush me off to the side when I approached them asking to learn or collaborate on setting up a space to teach and learn the arts of Hip-Hop.

Only a select few people and places opened up their arms without hesitation and welcomed me in with open arms. I will always have endless gratitude to the Pilsen YMCA for willing to hear out a teenagers ideas and give 100% support to allow me to nurture my first collaborative project and inspire me to start my quest to work with the communities.

The Southwest Youth Collaborative was another huge support, not only for me but for endless other young people who wanted to start up new and exciting endeavors for their peers. No idea was too far fetched for them, they allowed us to spread our wings like none other. Alternatives up on the northside being another huge player in the game, always bringing people together all city style.

Boogie Park sessions known as "Hip-Hop at the Park" being some of my favorite projects, bringing so many young heads together with the power of word of mouth. So much talent and devotion ran through those young circles. Blackbooks crossing every path, linoleum being beat to death by all the b-boys and b-girls, young emcees tapping into the heavens for meaningful flows and us beatboxers cramping at the lungs dedicated at keeping the beat alive for every syllable that came to the circle.

One of the most amazing projects I was able to land was being able to collaborate with the Code of the Cutz arena at the Vans Warped Tour for 3 years in a row. Being able to share the stage with the likes of Adeem, Immortal Technique, Hangar 18, Outerlimitz and more.. that was one hell of an inspiration.

Fast forward to being able to collaborate with Scion (shoutout to Ulysses!) for the Back 2 Basics breaking battles / car shows we held on an annual basis. My proudest moment was being able to collaborate with Latination to showcase everything that we were doing for all to see on a countrywide audience on the UPN network. Proud to see so many people I grew up with represented right in their element on national television!

Collaborations with M**f 7, Typical Cats and all of Galapagos 4, Scan DLS, DJ Deluge, Dynamic Vibrations, SOC, Mr. Bim and loca kats, molement and scam artists, Sour Apples, TNA, endless block party shows, road trips, parking lot cyphers, hotel hallway battles, Scribble Jam, Danger Dave, all of the Blue Island heads and cavazos family, Red Bull Chicago, everyone at the Scratch DJ Academy, shooting as a photographer for 40oz Prophet, being able to shoot some of my favorite artists over the years, Rock The Bells concert series in Chicago, We Are Hip-Hop festival and so many others, huge thanks to all of you for the willingness to collaborate and endless opportunities.

Back to the hometown.... tons of multi-genre art shows at Klas Restaurant here in Cicero. Endless love to Frank there for always welcoming local youth into his establishment to throw shows. I think plenty of Cicero cats know how important those rock shows were at Klas. The gallery shows that I was able to hold at Klas will always hold a strong place in my heart, I just wish Klas was still operational, such an amazing little venue.

Years later I'm finally able to work with my own hometown of Cicero and their Community Outreach Department. Helping cultivate like-minded individuals who are dedicated with supporting our youth and giving them the opportunities and encouragement to do anything their heart desires and not feel alienated or shunned away for wanting to express their dreams. Long rant short, I give all thanks to my mama for always supporting me through every decision and idea I've ever wanted to pursue and giving me the encouragement and prayers to better myself every step of the way. She could have been like all the other naysayers and shut down my aspirations of being a DJ or wanting to get involved in all these activities that seemed way over my head as a young teen but she did everything she could to help me make it all happen.

Yesterday was a very special day for Chicago Turntablism, awesome battle presented by Battle Ave / DJs are Not Jukeboxes / Texas Scratch League / Skratcher Chicago - West Coast maniacs such as D-Styles, Kurteek and Ichy the Killer, and local cats such as Boi Jeanius, Big Once, Toltech, J.Marz, R.T.S.T. and to everyone's surprise A-Trak making an appearance, plus all the battlers. Too many scratch fanatics in one room, it was too nice... I'm glad I thought about bringing my Vestax 06 faceplate with me to have everyone sign, knew it was going to be a special day for Chicago!

My Background

PHOTOGRAPHY | I’ve been experimenting with photography, video, and multimedia arts for the majority of my life ever since my freshman year in high school. Always surrounded by inspiring moments through the music and Hip-Hop culture around the Midwest. I had the urge to document everything I came across while it inspired me to share and take part of the arts themselves . Evolving from disposable cameras to the digital SLR age I began researching, practicing, and honing my craft to purify the visions I had in my head to share with the world. Whatever medium I work with, I just want to be able to keep these memories I’ve witnessed and created for the world and I to be able to look back on decades from now and be able to reminisce on the good times!

PERFORMING ARTIST | With a repertoire of sounds you’d expect to come from a boombox or a DJ’s scratching of the record, Jam One has blessed the stages of the Midwest and beyond with his art of vocal percussion for several years now. From the thunderous bass kicks to the intricate vocal scratching, you’re easy to mistake a performance from this south-side bred Chicagoan for a live DJ or drummer. Taking influences from his Turntablist background, you can find it easy to get lost in the constant barrage of beats, cuts, drops, and scratches; A welcoming factor when you’re day to day vision of a beatboxer is loosely based on cheesy skits from the mundane skits in Hollywood.
