We are gearing up for Valentine's Day. It's a big holiday for us. I ask that you try and shop LOCAL. Make a concerted effort to not order from order-gathering sites like 800Flowers, FTD, etc. and try to use local shops instead of giant conglomerates. I know I sound like a broken record, but we need it more than them. Your money stays in your community and you help keep a family dream alive 😊

We are nearly the end of January, one of the hardest months for small businesses. Since we've gotten some new followers here so I thought I might introduce myself, again 😊 I am April, third generation family owner of Wyoming Florist. I took over from my mother-in-law, who worked in the shop for 50 years and owned it for over 30 years. She was a woman owned business when being a working mother wasn't cool. We've changed a lot over the last four years of owning the shop. But we've never changed our goal of bringing quality customer service, an extensive plant selection, unique gifts and beautiful long lasting flowers to our customers. Trust me, we hear it all, from "I can get this cheaper at (insert grocery store)," to, "flowers just die." These rude comments don't change how we feel about what we do! It's the smiles on the faces of our customers and the recipients that makes it all worth it.

If you've been in our shop, then you know I don't do this alone. While my family is my biggest cheerleaders, I couldn't do any of this without my right hand gal, Jennie. She keeps my crazy in check, most days 🙃 and brings the beauty to life with her over 40 years experience in this industry. But, unfortunately, I can't ever get her in front of the camera, so you'll have to come in to meet her.

We have a lot of cool things happening in our shop. Recently we've partnered with .and.bubbly and , in addition to sharing a home with So, if you're local to the Cincinnati area, or find yourself in the Wyoming area, stop in, say HI! It's cold and snowy outside. I absolutely LOVE the snow! But, January tends to be one of the hardest months for small businesses and unfortunately, the snow has made it even harder for many, including us. Many have closed for a few days this past week, which can be hugely detrimental in an already slow month. If you have the opportunity, PLEASE, shop and eat local & small as much as you can. My guess is, you drive by many doors, on your way to the bigger giants who don't need your help!

Happy Saturday! As we leave 2024 behind, us florists head right into Valentine's Day preperations! YUP! 🤦‍♀️ We've already placed our orders! So, to help with the anticipation, how about some trivia! How many species of roses are there? No Googling! Just guess!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! We made it through 2024! It's been a rough one. Lots of ups and downs! In the end, we made it! To celebrate our accomplishment, we are going to take the rest of the year off.

As we come to the end of the year, it feels like it went so fast at the same time feeling like it took forever. We all know that things have been hard this past year, we go grocery shopping too! 😉 Maybe you don’t shop with us because your budget won't allow for it. Maybe you could shop with us, but choose to pick up flowers or gift items at a large conglomerate. Maybe you’ve never set foot in our store & only visit us on social media. Or, maybe you are a faithful customer who walks through our door regularly because you are super loyal and committed to shopping locally. Whatever your reason for shopping or not shopping with us, it doesn't matter. We are just happy you are here in some capacity.

I have learned a lot this year. One thing I didn’t learn, something I already knew, but was solidified in 2024, I hate social media! I find that keeping up with social media sucks a lot of time from my life. These platforms, while great for "free" marketing, are not great friends to small business owners. Things are constantly changing & so fast, that it's almost impossible to keep up. Clearly I cannot keep a secret, if I could, I would bail off these platforms, jump ship, ghost, get the F out. Alas, I am here, trying to provide beauty to your feed with our amazing flowers & gifts. But I need a break, so, for the rest of the year, I am checking out.

As we leave 2024 behind, take the good with you & leave the bad behind. I know that's what I will be trying to do. Set realistic goals for yourself & don't be upset when if don't reach them. Just move the goalpost. Life isn't about being perfect, it's about being perfectly imperfect. I know I sure as hell am!
