Polished and Dazzling! ✨
As we prepare for the upcoming season, it was time to give our beloved Springer Auditorium chandelier a little TLC. During the cleaning process, the chandelier is lowered into the orchestra via an automatic motor system. Each crystal is then wiped down with warm water and inspected to ensure every piece is securely fastened and in place. There is a whopping total 7,464 individual crystals so this is no easy task! Our stagehands work diligently over a number of days, giving every detail the attention it deserves.
It's hard work but the end result is exceptional! The chandelier has been the star of Springer Auditorium since its debut in the late 1960s/early 1970s and it's no wonder with the amount of work and care given to maintaining it. We can't wait to welcome you back to Music Hall and see your amazing chandelier pics!
Special thank you to our local Cincinnati Stage Employees stagehand team for all their hard work and Friends of Music Hall for their blog post "The Crystal Chandelier in Music Hall," where you can read more about the chandelier's history and cleaning process at https://buff.ly/3X0iyTl.
