It’s officially been FIVE YEARS since I sold my first plate! Words cannot describe how genuinely grateful I am to have reached this milestone. Most businesses fail within the first 3 years, and here we are 5 years later still kicking! Raven’s Creations has grown into a brand that I couldn’t fathom back when it was created in 2018. For the last 5 years I’ve led this business with integrity and stayed true to myself. I have cooked for everyyyy type of person there is. Black, white, Hispanic, middle eastern, Asian, rich & lower class and I stayed true to my authentic self & the recipes I created. No modifications over here baby! This journey has been humbling and so fulfilling. God has had a hand on me this entire time. I remember back to my freshman year of college at (which by the way I had no clue I was going to until a month before, more to come on that later) I didn’t have a car. I would wake up FOUR HOURS EARLY at 4:30am to be at the bus stop by 5:15 and make it to school by 6am for an 8am class. Now here we are today and they have quickly become one of my top repeating clients. Remember I didn’t know if I was going to college in 2018? My life was in shambles the summer before. I was battling homelessness and frankly didn’t have the privilege or time to even imagine myself in such a space. And here we are. Growing up my mama couldn’t afford basic necessities at times. So I was happy to create with my sister as a way to give back. I’ve now had the opportunity to cook for one of the leading companies creating basic necessities. A very good portion of my audience today are from my community. I owe you all everything. Most of my clients have been word of mouth from my UC folks, their employers, my Sorors , , and family & friends. Surviving for 5 years largely based on word of mouth is such a flex! Thank you!! At one point in my life I couldn’t fathom traveling further than Tennessee now here we are in 2023 and I’ve traveled this world. Raven’s Creations has afforded me the chance to do so. This past week marked FOUR YEARS since I sold my first plate in July 2018😱😱😱 For the first time, I was NOT excited about it🥺 I didn’t want to make a post or post anything that would highlight this accomplishment because earlier this week I felt like it WASN’T an accomplishment. I was upset with myself because I thought by year 4 I would have my ish together I’ve been working on stuff on the back end to expand my business and it has not come to fruition just yet. I felt lazy, discouraged, annoyed, irritated and overall not happy with the direction my business was going. Then- excuse my French- I had to remind myself who the f**k I was. These last four years I’ve had the pleasure of working with and meeting people I never dreamed of meeting! 😍 My pop up plate sale hustle blossomed into a legit business. I’ve been trusted to cook for bridal showers, birthday parties, police and fireman, baby showers, home going celebrations, professional athletes from multiple NFL teams, athletes, launched my non- profit , traveled the world and met other dope chefs, formed friendships with my clients, cooked in other states and cities, and more 😩❤️ Now, I’m definitely not where I want to be and there’s still a lot of things I’m working on that will be shared in the near future, but for now I celebrate me. I celebrate this entrepreneurial journey because it has not been easy in the slightest. I celebrate never giving up and for persevering through every obstacle, and I celebrate what these 4 years have done for me, and I celebrate you all. Soooo, Raven’s Creations was featured on ! Travel has a heavy influence on Raven’s Creations and I loved explaining how I pair traveling and cooking! Often times I use authentic ingredients and recipes when cooking new dishes. I absolutely love getting to know other chefs while traveling, we often exchange recipes. If you haven’t noticed, my visit to Jamaica has definitely impacted the way I cook. 😍 Jamaican dishes and spices have now become a staple in my household and I cook one of their staple meals at least once a month.

Not featured on the clip: travel to me is a way to heal my inner child. I always longed to travel the world and Raven’s Creations has afforded me the opportunity to do so. I realize this is a privilege so I enjoy giving back by sharing my favorite dishes from places I visited through Instagram Reels, posts and other social media outlets.

Sn- I def have to work on my news presence I forgot to make eye contact w the camera the whole time and I was looking and talking to the reporter like we were besties. Literally soon as we wrapped up I said “omg, I was looking at you and not the camera will I look c**k eyed” chile send help 😂

Happy Black History Month✊🏾 To kick off this wonderful month I would like to highlight the wonderful Shirley Chisholm. Chisholm was the first black woman to run for Congress and the FIRST Black major- party presidential candidate (she crawled so Kamala Harris could run🤞🏾). During her campaign in 1972 she also survived THREE assassination attempts. Besides this she also campaigned for Lewis Flagg Jr., to become Brooklyn’s first Black judge. She was apart of the NY State Assembly and an advocate for reproductive rights. Chisholm was a founding member of the Black Caucus and co- Founded the National Congress of Black Women. She was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Shirley Chisholm was a bad ass🔥.

Hey yal, I was scrolling down my timeline and I see talking about what her ‘WHY’ was. And I thought it was such a coincidence because this morning I woke up asking myself the same. God really does have humor I’m trying to tell yal🤣 A lot of days I feel like I don’t have it figured out completely. And to be honest I still don’t know what my WHY is 100% but I do know that I was placed on this earth to be some sort of inspiration and light to people who look like me and may have had similar life experiences. So Raven’s Creations supporters meet one of my ‘Why’s’ my Uncle Reese. He was my father figure growing up and to say life was rough for him would be an understatement. However he taught me and my four siblings to always keep God first, family close, and a positive energy. After experiencing a lot of traumatic events myself I can say I struggle with all of those on a day to day basis. However I know that part of my WHY is to trudge through the struggle and live long enough and bright enough to encourage others to get out that struggle knowing that healing and happiness will come. In this season of thankfulness I wanted to express my gratitude for all of you on this page, who constantly offer words of encouragement, all of you who wake up everyday and think- how can I be a better human? I want to thank all of you have literally had my back since I was selling $10 plates and making zero profit😂 Lastly, I want you all to consider your WHY? Oh and check out and learn about her WHY! Seriously a great book for both children and adults.
