What I’d give to get one more hug from you, JLo. I am so happy I held onto this clip of my last day on-air . I can feel that warm embrace watching it back. While I was sad to no longer see these amazing people every day, from the beginning they were always so supportive of my next move. We care about each other like family. People would always ask me if what they saw on air is really what my Local 12 family was like in person. Yes. 1000% yes. The most genuine, good-hearted, funny, warm and loving crew. JLo was a calm & composed, wise & witty, steady presence and loving man who was honestly like a father to us all. That is why this news has shattered us. JLo we love and miss you but I am finding that I feel your presence when I stop and admire nature’s beauty, as you did in so many of your incredible photographs. You’d be out here on this warm spring day, capturing the flowers starting to bloom and the birds singing and celebrating the start of a new season. That will stick with me with every click of my camera moving forward. Thank you for sharing with us how you saw all the beauty in this broken world. For someone who saw so much of it, working in news, that makes the images you captured all the more powerful. Holding JLo’s family and everyone in the Tall 12 family in my heart during this painful time. 💖

My heart breaks for the Lomax family, my family and everyone who was blessed to know John, JLo or The Godfather as he was known at the Tall 12. I was so honored to not just work alongside him on the morning show, but I was blessed to call him a friend. I will never ever forget his humor, his laugh, our talks and the wisdom he always so freely shared. He was an amazing man of character who was always so helpful to us young journalists in the newsroom. Truly one of the kindest, warmest, most generous and loving souls I’ve ever known. A father-like figure to so many of us with his warm and loving spirit, guidance and character. He always had your back. And even with all that said I know there is still so much to be said about this amazing man. I still can’t believe he’s no longer here with us. We always bonded over our love for photography. I envision he’s in heaven, camera in hand, capturing all of the endless beauty around, sharing stories and laughs with the angels. JLo we love you and our world won’t be the same without you. 💖

I still have two quotes saved in my phone from JLo…things he shared with me when I was deciding to leave news to start Daisy Jane’s Flower Truck.

He was explaining to me what an ontological argument is…that is anything that strives toward perfection is proof of God. He said, “Flowers do that.” A beautiful quote I’ll never forget.

When I told him what I was planning to do, starting the flower truck business, his encouraging words were, “You get to exercise your head and your heart.”

Thank you, John. I’ll never forget you. 💖

Making floral disco dreams come true at Richter & Phillips

It’s the chapters that build a good story. The great ending of one leaves you with anticipation for what happens in the next. For us here at Daisy Jane’s, two years ago we began writing a new chapter in this book. One I never imagined for a business that got its start on wheels. A chapter that included the grand opening of a brick and mortar during a time of uncertainty and what seemed to be an endless pandemic. But our mission of spreading joy thrived during a time when people needed to feel loved, connected and seen. We’ve had the joy of not just building a brand but a community of really amazing people we’ve come to know and love. At the end of December Daisy Jane’s Flower Bar will be closing, opening up opportunities for our business to grow and expand. Focusing more on our online flower orders, subscriptions and wedding and event design work. This business may give the illusion of being bigger than it is, but behind every bouquet and arrangement, floral installation, flower delivery, email, wedding and event are two moms trying to juggle all the things. We love what we do. We want to continue to love what we do and keep building into what we’ve worked so hard for. Closing this chapter of our brick and mortar location will allow us to better serve our customers and our families and help us in the never ending balancing act of being working moms. We are sad to see an end to this chapter but are also really excited for the opportunities that are ahead of us. We also look forward to seeing you all at our flower trucks spring through fall. Daisy Jane’s Flower Bar will officially be closing December 30th. Thank you so much for everyone who has supported this small business and continues to cheer us on no matter where the ride takes us.
