Check out our video with our first time collaborating with saxophonist Brendan Schnabel. Brendan is a long-established musician and educator in Washington DC, and is a part of many highly-talented bands in the area.

In this video, Brendan and DJ Mike Lujan joined forces to perform at an exceptionally high energy after party for Emily and Alex’s wedding at the Conrad in Washington DC! We played a wide range of music, from latin, rap, RnB, and house, and that dance floor was crazy the entire time!

We had so much fun performing together that Lujan Entertainment is now officially launching the Sax + DJ combo as a new package for all weddings and private parties! We can also play many different genres, from classics and throwbacks of the 70’s, all the way up to today’s current top hits.

VIDEO GUEST BOOK! Also known as “confessionals”, this is a great alternative to a normal guest book, and similar to those novelty phones that let guests leave audio messages for the newlyweds, but adds video on top of that!

Ours works by having the guests tap the screen to start, and then the video starts recording. A microphone on a stand is set up, which is where the guests talk in to leave their message. I help design the overlay graphics and can add a border or design to match your theme and colors. After the wedding, you would have access to all of the videos in an online gallery, and I would send a long form video montage.

What is “La Hora Loca”? Spanish for “the crazy hour”, this tradition started in South America and has slowly been making its way into weddings here in the states! Basically, for one full hour, it indeed gets crazy like you see in the video, with hard hitting music, lights, confetti, balloons, and even huge LED robots and some payasos! There are different variations depending on the culture, but generally, the idea is to make that last hour of the party extremely HYPE. Usually the DJ plays one song per minute and hypes everyone up with some extra mic work. I’ve had the pleasure of DJing some hora locals, with my game plan being “melt everyone’s faces off”, and LOVED every minute of it. DJ Mike Lujan, owner of Lujan Entertainment, has been DJing weddings for over ten years, but has always been DJing since high school with a huge passion for music and music culture. He combines his love of music and the craft of DJing with his love of providing an amazing and professional DJ service.

DJing Style:

Some DJs would be great in the club to provide an energetic dancing experience, but wouldn’t be as professional and efficient as other wedding DJs. On the other side of the coin, some wedding DJs are excellent at planning, sticking to schedule, communicating, and being flexible, but may not be all that great at mixing songs, keeping an exciting music flow going, or properly transitioning without awkward pauses or clashes. DJ Mike Lujan is the best of both worlds: excellent at mixing songs, reading crowds, making great song choices on the fly, and keeping the dance floor packed, all while also being very knowledgable about the ins and outs of weddings, being quick to respond and communicate, adapting to any sudden changes or situations, and expertly utilizing all equipment to ensure that the wedding flows flawlessly. When DJ Mike Lujan succeeds at both of his passions of excellent music and excellent service, it is the ultimate rewarding experience. It’s not just a job to him, but a genuine passion.
