Known for her collaborative spirit and musical versatility, Jennifer has performed professionally across the U.S. with renowned orchestras like the Tucson, New World, and New Mexico Symphonies. She’s also shined as a soloist with the Utah Festival Opera Company and Santa Fe New Music. As a founding artist of Salonnières, Jennifer brings themed, salon-style concerts to the Phoenix area. She served as concertmaster for Millennial Choirs and Orchestras for twelve years, frequently soloing, recording, and playing chamber music. Recently, she appeared as a guest concertmaster with the Chandler Symphony and was a principal player for the Chautauqua Music School Orchestra.

Jennifer is also a talented composer, with many works for chamber ensembles and student string players. In 2023, she received the prestigious Arizona Commission for the Arts Artist Research and Development Grant, which helped her create Southwest Express, a programmatic piece for string orchestra and actors. Two of her original pieces, The Banshee and The Kappa, have been selected for the Texas Prescribed Music List. 🎶✨ Meet Soprano Jamie Kay Alston! Featured with Salonnieres in the October 18th concert.✨🎶

Jamie has distinguished herself as a concert performer, specializing in classical, sacred, and American music. Since 2009, she has served as the first soprano section leader of Arizona Millennial Choirs and Orchestras, where she's frequently been a soloist in works like “Come Unto Him” from Handel’s Messiah and the premiere of New Colossus. Her journey has taken her across the country, including leading the soprano section for the Topeka Festival Singers and soloing in Topeka’s Songs of the Sabbath series. She was a featured soloist at ASU in the Verdi and Fauré Requiems.

Beyond concert stages, Jamie adores American folk and art songs, performing in intimate settings with her group, Salonnières. She’s shined in roles like Lucy in The Telephone, Laurey in Oklahoma!, and Sarah in The Forgotten Carols. She also pioneered the role of Sarah Parker in 1856: The Musical, performing to sold-out audiences and recording the role under the composer’s direction.

Jamie dedicates herself to teaching and guiding students of all ages in her studio when she's not performing. She’s led masterclasses across the country, conducted a 150-voice church choir, and even founded the East Valley Youth Chorus, where she directed a group of 90 high schoolers in performances with world-famous violinist Jenny Oaks Baker.

A native of upstate NY, Jamie studied vocal performance at ASU on a Herberger Fine Arts Scholarship and now resides in Mesa with her husband, John, and their three children. She is passionate about running and chocolate (though they tend to cancel each other out 😉).

We’re so excited to see what she’ll do next! 🌟
