🌟 Tech Talk Tuesday 🌟

Welcome back to Tech Talk Tuesday! This week, we’re highlighting a critical tool that keeps our team in perfect sync: our Eartec wireless headset system.

🎧 Spotlight on Eartec Wireless Headsets 🎧

Ever wondered how our crew stays in constant communication during a live show, ensuring everything runs like clockwork? It’s all thanks to our Eartec wireless headset system!

Eartec headsets allow our entire team—stage managers, lighting operators, sound engineers, and more—to communicate seamlessly, no matter where they are in the theater. With crystal-clear audio and reliable wireless connections, this system ensures that every cue, adjustment, and update is delivered instantly and accurately.

Our wireless setup eliminates the need for cumbersome cables, giving our crew the freedom to move around and respond quickly to any situation. Whether it’s calling lighting cues or coordinating set changes, Eartec headsets are essential for maintaining the precision and timing required for a flawless performance.

The Eartec system is the backbone of our backstage communication, making sure that everyone is on the same page and that the show goes off without a hitch.

Stay tuned for more tech insights every Tech Talk Tuesday!

The latest Town of Clayton, NC Government weather update. We'll be open for business as usual tomorrow (Friday, August 9).

We are continuing to monitor the impacts of Tropical Storm Debby in our area. Based on recent updates from the National Weather Service, we anticipate that some of the heaviest rain and wind is behind us, but flooding may continue to rise. Waterways are anticipated to crest around 8AM tomorrow morning and will likely take a few days to subside. Continue to be vigilant around rivers, creeks, etc. and be on the lookout for flood waters.

At this time, Town of Clayton facilities will be open on Friday, August 9 for minimally modified or normal operating hours, with the exception of some programming.

• Town Hall is open to the public for normal operating hours: 8:30AM to 4:30PM
• The Clayton Center Box Office will be open normal operating hours Noon-5PM
• The Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library is open normal hours: 9AM to 5PM
• The Clayton Community Center will be operational under modified hours: 8AM to 5PM, however Camp Clayton and other programming is canceled for Friday.
• Greenways and Trailheads are closed until further notice. Clayton Parks and Recreation staff have been working on identifying areas of need. Leaf, limbs and tree debris continue to be cleared, however until all flooding has subsided, the greenways will be closed.

Thank you to our Town of Clayton electric crews, first responders and public works staff for keeping our community safe and prepared. Stay safe, Clayton, and keep an eye on our channels for further updates.

Town Hall and The Clayton Center are on a delayed opening today. We will open at 10am.

Over 17 years, that’s how long our next staff member on the list has been on the tech and stage crew. Cheyenne Corbitt is a (self-described) nerd who really prefers listening to audiobooks over music. Cheyenne loves all the fun new experiences working at The Clayton Center brings every time she’s here. Specifically, she remembers working a show with animals where she was asked to put a hissing cockroach into someone’s pocket. EEEP! Thanks, Cheyenne for all your hard work making The Clayton Center the fabulous, adventurous place it is!

Clayton Rotarians prove that the community gathers at The Clayton Center. We hope you all enjoyed the show!

Another example of Clayton Rotary Out and About! When members are out and about and not at a club-attended or sponsored function where they would expect to see another Rotarian and randomly run into another Rotarian, whether from our club or not, they are to take a selfie with that person and submit it with the details of the encounter. We are doing this to show all the fun our Rotarians get up to and how easy it is to come across another Rotarian randomly. We're making it a little contest to give them an incentive to take the photo! We often hear about these encounters at our meetings but don't see the proof. As the saying goes, "Pics or it didn't happen."
Our twenty-fourth Out and About photo was submitted by Past President Johnny Long, who went to see Johnny Folsom 4 at The Clayton Center on Saturday, July 13, 2024. It was a popular destination with Clayton Rotarians because he ran into members Pondra and Eddie Byrd, Emory Howard, and Paul Papineau, and Past President Marty Bizzell. It looks like they all had a great time! John Long must be camera shy because we didn't get a photo with Johnny in it this time!

🌟 Tech Talk Tuesday 🌟

Welcome back to Tech Talk Tuesday! This week, we're exploring the technical world of DMX control in theater lighting.

💡 Spotlight on DMX Control 💡

Ever wondered how we create those stunning lighting effects with perfect precision? It's all thanks to DMX control!

DMX, or Digital Multiplex, is the standard protocol for digital communication networks used in stage lighting and effects. With DMX control, we can manage hundreds of lighting fixtures from a single console. This allows us to adjust brightness, color, and movement with incredible accuracy.

Our lighting designers program complex sequences into the DMX controller, ensuring each light performs its part at the exact right moment. This technology enables us to create dynamic lighting designs that enhance the mood and storytelling of our performances.

DMX control is essential for coordinating everything from simple spotlights to intricate light shows. It’s the backbone of our lighting design, giving us the creative freedom to transform the stage and captivate our audience.

Stay tuned for more tech insights every Tech Talk Tuesday!
