Great read about our beloved S.F. Flower Mart and its big move to the new location.

The market will always be such a special space for me. I remember my first job at 15 years old with Denise Barnett at Blossoms… tagging along for early morning market trips… trips that planted the seeds of love for floristry. Decades later, the market is just as special. I brought tiny babies in baby carriers to early morning market trips. My toddlers learned their colors walking down aisles of beautiful blooms and then ate pancakes at the cafe if they were good. They’ve carried armloads of blooms wrapped in paper to the van and vendors commented on how much they had grown up. I grew up at the S.F. Flower Mart, and while leaving the nostalgic spot carries lots of feels, I know the new location will be fab because it’s run by the hardest workers and best industry one could ask to be a part of.

The San Francisco Flower Market, a staple of the city’s SoMa neighborhood, bids farewell to its home of 58 years — but it’s not moving far.

This has been quite a year for everyone to say the least.... and I confess this is just my industry’s story to share. The floral industry was hit so hard in the trickle down with things FINALLY starting to look like they’re coming back... knock on wood. Here’s an interesting read explaining part of the issue. We’re all working so hard to get the market back - growers/ wholesalers and designers alike- and it will! In the meantime, if you can, next time you’re out, pick up some flowers to brighten your home. Promise it’ll make your day brighter also. San Francisco flower mart thanks for sharing this insight!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner 🙂. I’m super excited to announce the flower market is now open (for pick ups) so I’ll be able to make beautiful bouquets for Mother’s Day May 10th. May is my favorite time of year for flowers in that so much is locally grown and I’m so happy to support these hard working farmers any way I can. I’m offering bouquets at 3 price points:$50, $75 and $100 and am happy to arrange for pick ups or local delivery. Send me a message ASAP if interested so I can get my flower orders in by the end of this week/ early next week.

While the flower market is still closed... I know the farmers who support it are still busy harvesting their products- and paying their staff so that when we come back to life, there is beautiful product to sell, and for me to buy and bring to my brides. Saw these happy spring blooms at Trader Joe’s yesterday and had to bring home..... and I’m happier every time I see them:). Easter tablescape by my daughter 😁😁🐥🐥🐰🐰

I’ve been a florist since I was 15 years old... I still remember my first trip to the SF flower mart with Denise Barnett where I fell in love with this business where we get to deliver beauty to both the smallest and biggest moments in a person’s life. The SF flower mart is an amazing place and I honestly still feel like a kid in a candy store whenever I’m there... even at 3am. Everyone has a story of how this pandemic has shaken their world... and this shares a piece of the floral industry’s massive hit. Everyday I hope for a step in the right direction as a sign that this beautiful place filled with the hardest workers I know can come back to life.

Upward of $1 million worth of flowers was destroyed at the SF Flower Mart as it prepared to close. Farmers are watching their livelihood wither on the vine.
